Which do you thnk is the hardest enemy in GOW2?
It should probably be Ares or the new Minotaur.
A possible new REGULAR, GMG? The Hardest enemy of GOW2 is yet to be revealed... though I can tell you which enemy was the hardest in the first game... SATYRS! Ares is a b*tch - nothing to it. the Boss Minotaur is quite worthy, but still pretty easy. The Satyr gets the *PRIZE*!!Soulxxx
This topic is a bit off..as it asks about the hardest enemy of GoWII yet he replied with creatures from the first game...bosses to be exact..
I've already done a topic like this with GoW1...I don't care to be so presumptious as to rank enemies I haven't yet fought in every condition the game offers..same goes for the bosses..
~As for your other question Soul..it isn't likely but who can really tell for sure?
youre supposed to think who could be the hardest enemy or who u want to be ithiren_nfsmwi think they'll make the boss batlle a little more challenging from the first game after seeing what a cupcake Ares was. my vote goes to whoever the end boss will be
Cupcake! haha!! Well played, Evan!Soulxxxwell that's what u get after playing lots of Marvel ultimate alliance  the "Thing" after beating an opponent: "u lose, CUPCAKE!"
I agree about the Satyrs. They were the most challengin enemy, especially on the last Challenge of the Gods. The Cerberus Pups weren`t that hard, even when they grew up, I mean, if they all grew up and swarmed it would be a pain, but then you should just bash the pups faster.Alucard_rulesThat level of CotG was quite amazing... and frustated me alot. If you use Blade of Artemis and the combo L1+/_\ and then [ ] on Satyrs... They will be thrown away from that plateform.
Yeah, I can`t remember the name of the attack, but I read somewhere in an FAQ that like Rising Helios and like that work, it was L1+(I think square, I`m not sure), but in the air Kratos would spin one blade of Chaos(or in the CotG, BoA) in front on him vertically, and eventually slam the enemy down, that worked really well on the satyrs, and then using lance of the furies or Blade of Artemis on the pups, if I remember right. And by using that I was finally able to beat the Challenge of the Gods. Then again, it didn`t take me too long, mostly from looking for that tip online, and I was able to do another run of GOW on Normal with Ares Armor in 2 days(I was renting GOW).Alucard_rules
He was talking about Ascension of Artemis. The attack you made mention of was Apollo's Offensive (L1+X). I prefer using RotG against CotG 8 (at the beginning) and using grapples on the Gorgons to get most (at least 1/2) of it back by the end. Then I grapple the Cyclops of CotG 9 (failing on purpose since it gives you a lot of RotGs for each succesful button press AND the initial grapple) to fully fill it again just to release it on CotG 10 at the 2/3 mark. I like using the R1 R1 while in RotG (clears the platform and doesn't jeopardize my control/position of the area like Tempest of the Fates * [ ] [ ] [ ] hold * ).
~Tactics/Tips Thread
Yeah, Apollo`s Offensive, there we go. To be honest, I pretty much completely forgot about the RotG about from the end of my first run through, during CotG, and throughout my second run through. Still did quite well without it, but I would imagine that it would help immensely for CotG. Alucard_rules
RotG usually only factors if you keep in mind where it would even help...during God Mode it is forced down your throat at one key moment (Clones)..However it can be used to blast through Ares 1 in 1/3 the normal time to defeat him. During NURs, none of that matters since it isn't available...It isn't necessary anyway..those that have completed a God Mode NUR can attest to how needless it is in actual combat.
For CotG, RotG is a means of blasting through the dreary length that is CotG 8..a bit too much gorgon action..they outstay their welcome. So I use it to spice things up a bit..killing a few of the first waves just to starts things off with a bang..then earn it back 1/2 by the end and get the rest in the easiest Challenge (to me at least)..number 9...Using the same moves ad nauseam can get rather boring (like CotG 8 at times)...So near the end I unleash hell upon the puppies and Satyrs (seeing as their is nothing else to do with the RotG).
~I'm looking foward to combat against the Imps and their beasts of burden..but I am most curious about the 'Fate Servant' *remember that is only a stand in name I game them just like the 'Undead Grenader'..surely they'll have an official name..I just liked the sound of the names that I tagged onto them* We have seen virtually nothing of their combat style or movement.. all we have seen is a single finisher where Kratos tears one in half from a position similar to the neck snap of the 'Undead Satyr' *another tagged on name*
---Not long after making the assertion that the Fate Servant could be a hybrid of an Undead Legion and an imp that I thought it would make more sense of what IGN *I believe* said about the Imps..calling them "Mutants"..What if the Fate Servant was their original form and they were molded into the freaks we see now. In either case I believe it is likely that the Fate Servant (like the imps and Undead Satyr) will have the ability to ride a larger creature
I have noticed that you like anything conceived from your own mind immensely, though I will admit they are good place-holder names, and you are generally correct. But any enemy that kind ride another enemy will likely be one of the harder enemies in GOWII. It will certainly be interesting when we are able to see all of the new enemies in GOWII, and what strengths/weaknesses each possess. Alucard_rules
I admit I do like the place holder names that I use..at least for the ones that I've decided on..I am unable to choose a name for the Stone Minotaur/Minotaur Golem/Rock Lava Beast *a few among many names I've heard it called by* Perhaps you can help me here. I've asked for input on it before..still can't really make a name that "sticks"..might just have to wait until the games release *assuming the manuel immitates the last and includes some creatures, their names and a bit of info about them*
~Critical Battery issues..I'll return soon
I would think Rock Minotaur or Lava Minotaur. Because it is obviously a minotaur, so I would assume that Minotaur would be within the name, and as it is made of rock and lava, one of those two would make up the other part of the name. But, as you said, we`ll likely have to wait for the game to know the real name. Although anything with Minotaur in the title would likely be a safe bet.Alucard_rules
I'm rarely so indecisive about something...I just hate referring to it by different names every other time I talk about it *which isn't all that often*
~It would be nice if IGN would do a Countdown for GoWII like they do for the Smackdown! Series..show off a new enemy, weapon, spell, relic, etc. each day with a brief bio, 1-5 pics and a video of it in action...at least that would be awesome to me...
Alucard... that Rock Minotaur isn't a minotaur at all, if you think about it. Its made of rocks, the only thing implying 'minotaur' is the Horns, BUT it's only rock so maybe we can forget the 'Minotaur' part. I think we should call it Clone, for the reasons of being a clone of the Boss minotaur from the first game, essentialy, and because *like Cory said* it's just a regular AI character, and we'll be seeing lots of it.
Clone it is?
P.S Clone is also an affinity to the Kratos Clones. *just the name I mean, nothing else*
EDIT:
Something I forgot... RotG is expendable. However I really love using it in the heat of battle. Just go like "I'm a GOD!" and open the can.
You`ve got a point, although I still think the head completely says Minotaur, not just the horns, but the general shape of the head as well. I highly doubt it would be known as clone, since were a monster to be called clone, logic would dictate that it would change form to "clone" something, or it would be a mass-produced clone, which is pretty much what the undead soldier is, so clone doesn`t seem like a fitting title to me. And, I think I remember that in one of the first GOWII interviews, I think at last year`s E3, Cory, David, and one of the guys from Gamespot had a talk and they showed clips of the game, and one of them was that rock beast, and I think the Gamespot guy(I forget his name, sorry) called it like a rock/whatver minotaur, I would think, if it wasn`t a minotaur, Jaffe or Barlog would have corrected him, even if they didn`t give the actual name.Alucard_rules
That's my problem with the creature..it isn't exactly specified as to what it is..so even dubbing it with a name can be difficult...the worst name I've heard is "Rock Lava Beast".
~Though that is the most accurate..it is too wordy for me and doesn't sound good..It does have the features of the Boss Minotaur *though much smaller overall..when compared* so the names using 'Minotaur' in them are well founded...I can't wait to see if IGN is going to redeem themselves...knowing those punks, they will make us wait until next week before unveiling their latest info from the visit they had with the GoWII team about a day ago
--I wonder what other encounters we can expect from the creature are...we know of the Fixed position version *seen on E3 demo* and a mobile version...there was talk but no actual promises of two of these creatures at once *in a fight*...I wonder if we will encounter any in weird places..like while we are rock climbing it sproats from wall and starts fighting us *unlikely since they seem to shy from big fights in that section...reference the decision against having a Cyclops climb the walls to battle us along them* Maybe one will be underwater *again unlikely*..
---In any event..IGN holds the next scoop.."How big will it be?" You might ask yourself..who can tell with IGN really?
Nice new banner GMG. I certainly hope that at some point we fight at least 2 mobile ones. Perhaps on higher difficulty levels more will appear in a place where there was only 1. That is really what video games like this are about, the really high-paced fierce battles against multiple opponents(or 1 if it is a boss). And besides, in GOW1 we fought multiple cyclops`, although I think the maximum for cyclops` was 2.Alucard_rules
I'd love if they pulled that off as a surprise..but to be realistic..they didn't make enemy amounts linked to the Difficulty in the first and are highly unlikely to do so in GoWII. They could have parts with 3 of those Rock beasts if they played the situation right...2 immobile versions blocking the way with one mobile attacking you..or 1 immobile blocking a narrow corridor with 2 mobile version on the assualt...or even 3 immobile..one on the left, right and center..each guarding something...I'm not sure a fight with 3 mobile versions would work though...It may get cluttered and difficult to see..as if 2 mobile versions wouldn't make it difficult enough to see
~Though I know he was joking when he mentioned a "Titan Mode" for Grandma Hardcore I still thought it was funny that he said such a thing (I had been pushing for a true 'Very Hard' setting and even used the same name) It is easy to see why we both came up with the same name for it...God to Titans..simple transition *c wat i did thar?*
---Hope is about all we have until the new week begins it appears..
EDIT
Barlog said long ago that we can expect to see all the major characters and even all *more likely just most* the minor characters...So that would mean the return of the Boat Captain at some point..perhaps GoW will have its own "running gag"..Kratos killing the Boat Captain resulting in many lulz
Yeah, it was quite funny that in GOW you screwed him over twice. Just let him fall into the Hydra`s stomach the first time, and then in Hades, caught onto him to prevent from falling, climbing up him, and letting him fall into Hades. No way he`s a boss though, like the Barbarian king, returning from the dead, even though that would be kind of funny.Alucard_rules
Who said anything about being a boss? I'm proposing that he will become a running joke/gag of the series..
Ex: Kratos (in GoWII) finds himself in Hades..again. He runs into the Boat Captain.
Boat Captain: You again!
Kratos: Who are you?
Boat Captain: *freaking out* Not this time! *attacks*
Kratos: *kills him quickly/effortlessly and looks on towards his path*
~He would just show up in places and keep running into Kratos who kills him time and time again
