According to a trailer at 1up.com and choosing the Hammer Teaser Trailer, you can see at the end when K is on a griffon and there is a PINK SPEAR thru its back.

i asw it too, but i think that was simply the rider's weapon. kratos would have tossed him off and took his spear to stab it in the griffin's neck. i mean, why else would he jump off the creature without reclaiming his weapon?
