Don't get me wrong, I believe dragons have existed before or after the dinosaur age and are extinct now. So much evidence has been found about them. I once saw a show about them on Nat Geo and it said scientists have found frozen dragon bones in caves with spears through them and also dead medival people in armor near them. The scientists study how the dragon's fire works, and that they can only fly if they are light with no food in them. So, I have always believed that dragons existed and probably always will be. So, what do you think?

sorry LGD, i saw that documentary too and i think you're a little confused, as i was when i first saw it. the entire situation was hypothetical, just a "what-if" kinda thing. i do think that dragons could be real though, we just havent found them yet. :)

I personally think dragon-like creatures WERE real at one point in time, but they did not breath fire, and they probably looked different than your fictional drawing of a dragon. (probably more like a terodactyl or somthing)

However, it depends on what your definition of a Dragon is... i voted for the second one.

If they were real, wouldnt it be cool to have a pet dragon? ;) :)

I split on this. *Points at the story he wrote* it has a theme in there that shows this in me. I think dragons were real at one time since it is quite possible that they could have lived in the prehistoric era. But from watching something on t.v. about dragons I learned that dragons could have been created from seeing frighting things in the past that couldn't be explained at the time. So yeah I don't know what to vote for on this one.

I have to say... that in the real world I don't think dragons ever really existed, if they truely did I think hardcore evidence would have been found by now and it would have made the news... and been printed into grade school history books you know...

HOWEVER, in my world and in my mind, intellectual dragons roam, and I myself am a dragon of the fire element!

I reckon they must have existed at some point. If they hadn't, people would be unfamiliar with the word and always ask "What's a Dragon?". So the concept of them existing in the period when Dinosaurs were alive seems plausible. In a way, they almost are a Dinosaur, expect more a mixture of various Dinos' best features.

I personally think dragon-like creatures WERE real at one point in time, but they did not breath fire, and they probably looked different than your fictional drawing of a dragon. (probably more like a pterodactyl or somthing)sputnick2006

I think the one people draw is just the type they like to relate to in some way. There are hundreds of different types of Dragon such as the many Serpent-like ones from China that inhabit those parades. The one which has become the most popular, though, and that Spyro is based on is actually the Welsh Dragon. Look at the Welsh Flag and you'll see :)

Well, I chose the second answer, but I'm short for time now to explain.

But trust me, I'll be coming back for a lot of facts that you will look at as evidence that dragons HAD to exist...Trust me. 8)

think about it... dragons had to exist at some point in humn history, all over the world, or how else would you get so many different accounts of basically the same creature from opposite ends of the world? all of these "sightings" also stop around the same timein history, and people stop believing in them at the same time too. so, logically, dragons must have existed, and comparitively recently (as opposed to their dino "cousins") in the history of the world...:)

Anyway, that was what I was gonna say.

Sumerian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Egyptian, Babylonian, and Aztec and Mayan dragons are been accounted for through out history. Back then, these people had no knowledge of each others existence. No telegrams, ships, computers, phones. These people stood in their own places.

This only means that the dragons moved and lived around the world.....

I knew i'de find the perfect place to talk about this someday... OK, long story short:

We had a substitute english teacher at school. Her name was DR. Jenks. She looked EXACTLY like she was pulled out from a harry potter book. Anyway, one day, the classroom was unusually warm, but no one complained. However, Dr. Jenks told us that the reason the room was so hot, was because there were invisible dragons flying around in circles above our heads... NOT KIDDING....

She also told us about her house, and how she has all these dragon statues and chairs...It was both fasinating and creepy at the same time! LOL!

Think i was kidding about the harry potter thing? Check out her own web site she gave to us in class: HERE or here if that doesnt work: http://www.mythinglinks.org/bio.html

But surely if Dragons moved and lived around the world, like you said, that would mean people did know about the various species of Dragons? It probably isn't like most creatures today who go to a specific place based on what they are, Dragons could fly and didn't seem to have any specific habitat. They may have preferred some places to others, I'm sure, but it wouldn't be the same for one certain type of Dragon. Perhaps they were like us. :)

i believe dragons still exist but have never been proven. I also saw something on the history channel about dragons, in europe dragons breathed fire, which represented death, in china they breathed a kind of mist, which represented life. Also some landmarks and natural formations like mountains look like a part of a dragon, like it's spikes on its back, teeth, etc.

electric eels can generate electicity enough to stun a human out of their own bodies, anglerfish can make themselves glow on and off like lightbulbs, 5-foot long octupi can sqeeze themselves into something as small as a beer bottle, and waterbears can withstand temperature extremes from the vacuum of space to the magma of the earth's mantle, so why is it so hard to beleive that nature once had an animal that could breathe fire?

Now this is another interesting topic. :D

I'm sooo late for this one, but here's my thoughts...

SOADjoe19

I saw a documentary on this once. This is something to extremely important, because if you look at the artwork of these different cultures, you'll see creatures similar to what we see as dragons now. So the fact that they all had similar depictions of what a dragon looked like is something truly amazing, just as how the Mayans, Aztecs, and Egyptians built great pyramids based on similar ideas when they had knowledge of each other's existence, as already said...

Also, I like the nickname of the person who made the site in the link, and the website has some great infomation. :)

The bolded part... Don't forget about what fireflies can do. Sparx anyone?

Anyway, breathing fire could very well be possible with the right kind of inner body protection and chemicals. I know that methane could easily be used as the fuel for the flame since it's commonly a byproduct of the things we and many other animals eat. It could also be used to way to help dragons fly (considering their enormous size much of the time), by giving them the lift they need to take off and remain in the air. Of course, that's in theory, and I'm sure nature would find a way to make it happen...

Yeah, man. NATURE IS INSANE!

EPIC WIN!
