I know that many of you are avid quotists (Thats quote with an ist on the end of it, very fancy I know) and love sharing your quotes. The point of this topic is to give you all a place to share your quotes as well as create a bank of which I can pull a quote of the week or two from.

When you post you can either post a quote with or without a reflection on its meaning and/or you can reflect on another's quote. Think of it as dozens of quotes a week!

I would like every quote posted to be numbered, so prior to posting your quotes you should check the previous post. If you do not number a quote or two, I will edit your post and add the numbers in. If you consistently do it, then perhaps it may cost you a little something something (if you know what I mean).

I know I will be asked in the future about this, Prestige Points for this topic are secret, but they do exist. I hope we can leave it at that.

Thank you in advance for your contributions.

---

Quote #1 - William Shakesphere through the character of Julius Ceasar, "Cowards die many times before their death."

A man who gives up living for safety truly has died more than the man who risks his life on a nightly basis. Refusing to live is a death in itself despite the reality that you are still breathing.

Quote on!

Ooh! Interesting thread. Lemme get a phoenix down.

BAM! REVIVAL!

I'll start off with my quote from last month:

"Luck is also part of a warrior's strength."

- Morival Sinclair, Metal Shadow

Cheesy I know, but I love it so!

Seeing as I do philosophy and it is one of my best subjects, I figured I could shed some philosophical light.

"Myth does not always equal bull****." - My Philosophy Teacher

"We are as significant as we are minute." - Dont remember, all I wrote down at the time was that it was a paradox.

"Cogito, ergo sum (translated to I think, therefore I am)" - A popular quote from the father of modern philosophy, Rene Descartes.

"If it turns out that there is a God, I don't think that he's evil. But the worst that you can say about him is that basically he's an underachiever." - Woody Allen

"The Machine, the genie that man has thoughtlessly let out of its bottle and cannot put back again." - George Orwell

"Ghosts remind me of men's smartcrack about women, you can't live with them and can't live without them." - Eugene O'Neal

"How can you ask me if I believe in the devil and assume I am a satanist, and yet call yourself a christian despite the fact that you do not seem to have any belief in the existence of satan, which is one of the building blocks to your religion?" - Myself to a person who asked me "Do you believe in the devil?"

Here's one I thought of today, though I don't agree with it at all:

"How can you seriously enjoy something?" - iloveflash

And I just remembered these a few days ago. They were made up a long time ago, when I used to make up quotes for fun (still do, actually :P):

"If you wish to be good at everything, you must first become good at yourself."- iloveflash

"At times, the winner is the one who's already lost." - iloveflash

"If you're ever in a twist, twist your mouth and smile!" - iloveflash

And one of my favs:

"Those who see all that is before them are destined to go blind." - iloveflash

And one from a book about the ancient Kamitic tradition:

"Truth is not a realization. Truth is how things are connected."- Ra Un Nefer Amen, Metu Neter

That's 6 quotes and a lot of trouble!

"Ever since I was 12 years old I had to defend my love for heavy metal against those who say it's a less valid form of music. My answer now is that you either feel it or you don't. If metal doesn't give that overwhelming surge of power that make the hair stand up at the back of your neck, you might never get it, and you know what? That's okay. Because judging by the 40,000 metalheads around me, we're doing just fine without you." - Sam Dunn, Metal: A Headbangers Journey

"That which we obtain too easily, we esteem too lightly. It is dearness only which gives everything its value" ~Thomas Payne

One of the many truths of humanity. Though many particular things may play a useful role in this life one time or another, the things we work hardest for or rarely come across ultimately are always the most cherished.

Oh, and sorry I haven't posted here for such a long time. As I have said in the past, it is really not in my nature to talk a lot. And, I seldom have anything relevent or helpful to say, which often keeps me quiet with most subjects. But, yes, just to let you know, I still visit the board every now-and-then, although I do not post very frequently.

Dear me, I forgot to number the quote I posted, didn't I? My apologies; I will be sure not to make that mistake again.

Erm, anyhow....

Quote #31: "The more things change, the more they stay the same"

This quote, in my opinion, applies for just about everything; from the latest technology to the most unique cultures...and so on.

Usually when something new--whatever the subject or product--is born, it is not very long before it starts to gain various counterparts. Given time, there will be so many counterparts of that subject that it will eventually go about being the everyday phenomenon, flattening into the arid pits of normality. Because of this, everyday in this life it becomes ever more difficult to be unique.

That has a sense of truth to it but I think there are exceptions. Some things have no counterparts (can't think of any right now, except maybe the concept of time which might only be an exception because change itself depends on time), so when they change, everything else changes, and nothing remains as it was.

Quote 33 - "A little inaccuracy saves a world of explanation" ~Clarence Ayres

Many people sometimes find it convenient to lie about small things as to defeat the tedium of longer explanation or correction. Though it may be somewhat useful on certain occasions, it can also promote distrust and laziness at some point. To say the least, it may not be the best of habits to become accustomed to.

Quote 36 - "Speak when you are angry, and you will make the best speech you will ever regret" ~Laurence Peter

Usually it is not a good idea to carry out a task or action while angry for whatever reason, nor is it very wise to become offended or provoked easily, as it will often lead to irrational descisions. This is partially why it is best to remain calm at all times, no matter how vexsome the situation may come to be. Remember--angry equals sloppy.

Quote 37 - "Do not speak unless you can improve the silence"

This quote is amongst my few favorites. To be simple, if you are not part of an immediate situation, particularly a conflict of some sort, it is best not to intervene unless you know what you are doing. Otherwise, you may only end up meaninglessly prolonging the situation.

Dear me, I was a bit vague on that, wasn't I? My apologies.

Truth be told, it is really more what one may call a "comeback" rather than a quote. But, nevertheless, I will try my best to make clarity of it.

Erm, in other words, whenever there is a small commotion of some sort, it is usually best not to deliberately partake in the ordeal unless it is necessary to do so.

Sometimes two or more individuals may fall into a minor opposition or disagreement, and then someone else--whether part of the conversation or not--may make a comment that is completely unseemly or uncalled for, which often ends with him/her fueling the fire, or possibly starting one.

But, yes, to make it sound as simple as possible, the quote in general is basically another way of saying something similar to, "do not say unnecessary things."

The quote just about explains itself. If I were to posit, it does serve as a decent reminder always to think before acting, whatever the subject, motive, or ordeal.
