The English Matilda. Yeah, it was slow, low-calibered, thin-treaded and cumbersome, but soooo sexy. It was just one great hunka-hunka heavy metal. Besides the obviously unbeatable T-34 (German copy being the Panther), the Matilda was the "Queen Of The Desert."herodotus2006
They were pretty slow,Ii think that and the Sherman tank were the two most overrated of the entire war. The Tiger was slow which made it an easy target, which really is where all of that armor became expended. And the only advantage the Sherman had was it's numbers. Here's what I think were the most underrated tanks of the war.
1. M3-M5 Stuart-Just look at what that thing went up against and succeeded.
1. T34-Overshadowed in the America's by the Sherman, possibly due to the tensions of the Cold War.
3. Panzer V Panther-really overshadowed by the big, overrated, and bulky Tiger tanks, but was really a good answer and successful T34 rival.
4.M18 Hellcat-my favorite, but had little war experience to prove just how good it was.
I heard about Comet tanks. That those tanks made it to the war so late that they practicaly didn't see any action at all...Icarus405So were the Chaffee and Pershing U.S. tanks. But it's a good thing that those hardly saw any combat, they would have been horrible had they been introduced early in the war, and were horrible with the action they saw.

I can agree why the Pershing performed well in Korea, but it was meant to battle a Tiger, and it failed at that. And the chaffee was supposed to replace the Stuart but after reading about it I would still choose a Stuart. It sounded very unreliable.

The Germans made a lot of crap that got too much attention, everybody likes them just because of their armor, but they were slow and unreliable.
