sega started screwing up the sonic franchise. Once upon a time he was a tough rival to mario.

Now? Sega started introducing new chars and screwed sonic. While Nintendo's mario doesnt seem to die.

This can't really be a proper question if you think about it. Right heres the facts:

Sega started off by creating thier own consoles and games, and as a few people may have noticed, there console's weren't exactly successful compared to other companies. So just as they were about to go bankrupt, they 'sold' themselves to other companies, and since about 2001 they haven't made consoles, but they are a 3rd party company that makes games for 1st party companies that produce the consoles such as nintendo, sony, and microsoft. 

That just goes to prove that you can't really compare a 3rd party company that just makes games like sega, to a 1st party company that produces 1st party games and consoles, such as nintendo :D
