what got you started on twisted metal?

i was just wondering how people came to play twisted metal.

i rememeber that when i was a little kid, one of my uncles gave me a lot of demo discs for the PS1. one of them had the demo for twisted metal 4. ever since then, it has been one of my favorite games. i rememebr me and my dad playing the demo together. the demo level was neon cty, and we would take turns to see if we could beat moon buggy. it took us SO many tries to beat him, but once we did, we were so happy.

after that, i decided to look for the full game. i searched everywhere, and all i could find was twisted metal 1. i still played it and i loved it. then for my birthday, i got a wonderful surprise. my dad had got me twisted metal 2, 3, and 4! i was so happy that day, and i immediately started playing twisted metal 2, then i went to 3, then finally 4.

after playing for so long, i got MUCH better than when i was in my demo days.

ever since then, i have been getting the other twisted metal games when they came out. i have all of them except head on.

so how did you guys come to play twisted metal?

nah. its closer to being a movie of full auto.

I'm still missing the original Twisted Metal and Small Brawl. I suppose you could also count Twisted Metal 2 on PC and Twisted Metal: Black: Online, but that's a bit nit-picky since there's not really any reason to play either current day. To compensate, I have Head-On on both PSP and PS2.

Head-On was a game that eluded me for quite a while. I had purchased the Extra Twisted Edition on release date for PS2 before the regular PSP version, since I didn't have a PSP at the time. When I got my PSP a couple of years ago, it wasn't until about a year later that I found a copy under $20, since I refused to pay that amount for one of the PSP's launch games five years later. I haven't even gotten around to playing through Head-On on PSP, but I've never been in much of a rush since the PS2 version is much more complete, and had the lost levels of Twisted Metal: Habour City which totally justified them re-releasing it.

Harbor City was supposed to be the sequel to Black, and was going to feature an open world, on-foot sequences, and a whole bunch of other really neat stuff, but because of the tragic death of many game's key staff the game was cancelled, and all that was released was four environments, a couple unique characters, and an on-foot sequence with factoids scattered about, which could only be played in the Extra Twisted Version of Head-On.

To be honest, Twisted Metal was the first game series I have ever played. I think I started when I was around 3-4, my favorite cars were Sweet Tooth and Crimson Fury. Later on in life, I was given the fourth game in the series at an unknown age. I really think that Twisted Metal 4 is a horribly underrated game.

In a few months, many new people will be introduced to the series, and will become addicted to the fast paced action and destruction only Twisted Metal can bring. It such a marvelous thought, it almost brings me to tears! :D

i miss the good old days of playing TM. i might get back into it.

I'm hoping to play through all of the Twisted Metal games within the next month in preparation for the new release. I'd also love to play through the tournament mode with all of the characters in Twisted Metal 2, but we'll just see if I have time to do it.

I sometimes surprise myself with the games I didn't even remember purchasing that are somehow in my collection. xD I guess that's a sign that I should really stop playing games online and tackle some of the older games I've been neglecting.

that would take too long for me. i have nearly 1000 games, and about 900 of those are still sealed.
