For me, it's a toss up between Holland in TM2 and the Drive-in in Black. I LOVE those kinds of levels where it's a hit and run kind of thing, especially when your a guy that's fast with little armor. It's almost not fair. What do you guys think?

I also think the levels in TM3 don't get the love the deserve. Sure some were cheesy (North Pole), but they were still creative. 989 obviously wanted to continue the "World Tour" but the problem was the good places were already taken.

Holland was an awesome level, I have to agree. I love how many cars can battle on that battlefield, but it's not my vote!

My favorite has to be Antarctica from TM2. I loved the fact that the longer the battle goes on, the smaller the battlefield gets, and the computer opponents will actually fall off. After a few battles in Deathmatch mode, the arena becomes super-tiny, and with 7 opponents, it is totally crazy!

I've beeing thinking a lot about this, and I can't say that I have a favorite level. There are so many that I love to play on, but none that I'd call my favorite. If I were really pushed, I might say the Carnivale in TM4, because of the roller coaster, haunted house, and big top.

That was a pretty cool level too. If I were to choose the best of Twisted Metal 4, I'd say I'd choose Neon City. I loved how large the environment was, how many skyscrapers there were, and how you could go on the rooftops. Plus, the secret balcony was super cool, especially how you can fire homing missiles down at your enemies while being transported. There were lots of secrets, lots of weapons, and lots of terrain for awesome battles, so that that would be my favorite for TM4.

The monorail in that was all kinds of awesome. Especially when you startd laying down proximity mines or throwing out richochets to get rid of the train intself. Thanks to the tight corridors, things like the rain missile were actually useful. Even better, if you were fighting outside and the train was still around, you could use a remote freeze bomb to trap a whole bunch of enemies there. It also had a hell of song playing during that level. Just good times. If we could have gotten the classic TM cars and drivers in that game, it would have be so much better.

The crappy thing is that the song for Neon City skips with my disk, so I can only enjoy the first half before I have to turn off the music. Neon City had so many things to do compared to Road Rage, and so many more opportunities for combos. That what sold it for me.

I honestly don't remember these levels haha. I remember the carnival one with the roller coaster. I forgot about the Prison Boat too. That level was way ahead of the curve. So cool that it evolved and opened up gradually.

For some reason, that level just never seemed right to me. I don't remember anything cool being on the boat, but the fact that you could sit and watch the doors open up in the harbor or cause the electricution of a prisoner was just nuts.

Yeah I never really understood how they got one the boat or why some characters had the advantage of starting on the land, but I thought it was so cool that you start in an enclosed room and the doors open. Then you fight on the ship as it's docking, then when it docks you get more level to fight on. I don't know, I thought it was pretty creative and fresh.

but though their are not very many levels that open up into a wide open space, it was very creative

but my favourite level goes to TMB rooftops just before the fight with the warhawk

Yeah it was pretty sweet to fly through the church's roof for the first time. Plus it brings you back to New York in TM2.

That was awesome in New York when you could fly through the windows of that motel, and you could even get to a swimming pool. It had a lot of detail for a rooftops level, and it was awesome when you got to blow-up the Statue of Liberty.

I remember before the internet was big, I was reading my GamePro back in the day and read about how you can blow stuff up in different levels. Thought it was the coolest thing.

Same. Actually, I din't even know about blowing-up the Statue of Liberty until they created the video in TMHOETE about Twisted Metal's history. I tried it out right away, it was really funny.

That level was really great, I was disappointed when it wasn't brought back in Twisted Metal Head On. I loved shrinking the arena to it's smallest in a Deathmatch, and trying to survive with Grasshopper. It was not easy.

I can't remember the name of the map but it was tm2 and it was where you fought minion. I also dig paris and new york in that game. I loved running over the guy in the pool and destroying the statue of liberty.

That would be Amazonia - Fire Walk. That was a smart design, I was surprised they didn't use that level design again in TM3, or even TM4 when the brought the level back. The cool thing is that it was perfectly formulated for hit-and-run attacks, which is my style of play. 8)

I would have to say Tokyo from Twisted Metal 2.johndoh4

I think you mean Hong Kong - Hong Kong Krunch. Another neat level, and probably the best map for two player deathmatches. But dang, Dark Tooth was hard!

As much as I hated the 989 games, I'm really tempted to vote for the UFO. I loved that level. especially the secret room it had :D

From the real, non-989 games, it would have to be Paris from TM2. I love blowing up the Eifel Tower and torching the Mona Lisa

Doing that was awesome. It was also one of the tougher levels in the game, one of the smaller ones and harder to escape the city section when under fire. The only thing I didn't really like was that it was annoying when opponents sometimes get up on the rooftops there before the Eiffel Tower comes down, and fires endless missles at you on top unless you take the jump in the ravine, which can be very out-of-control.

Boy, this is an old thread. Anyways, I 'ought as well throw up Carnival of Darkness from Twisted Metal: Lost (From ETE). I was playing a few battles on it the other day. It's such a large and well-functioning level, it only adds to the shame that Twisted Metal: Harbor City was never finished.

Well, let's hope so, I'd love to see a platforming mechanic, as long as it doesn't feel tacked-on. It has to work with the storylines and the gameplay, and also has to be an involving part of the game, I thought the platforming sections in TM:HOETE were really awkward, and some of the hazards would have been a real annoyance to get past if they were turned on. Still, it did make for a fun factoid tour!

One of my favorite levels is the New York rooftops level in TM2. I always like blowing up the statue of liberty (I thought it was funny the way the statue changed the more damage you did to it) and trapping opponents in the pool and blowing them to pieces!

Good call; out of all of the rooftop levels in the Twisted Metal series, I thought Twisted Metal 2's was the best. Though the rooftop in the original was one of the best in the game, the sequel's had much more depth in its design, and its battle tactics. For example, the strategy I would mostly use would be to get a whole lot of ricochet bombs, wait by the lower part of the ramp of the grey building, and when anybody came down the ramp, hit them with the ricochet off the edge. There's a load of other tactics you can use as well because of the platform-style of the level, and the fact your enemies can fall to their doom. It was always a fun, but one of the most suspenseful levels in the game.

It's funny, today I was playing through a tournament, when I reached New York I was able get the two most deadly enemies in this level, Spectre and Mr. Slam out right away using the Ricochets, but then going to get more I accidentally drove off the edge, and lost my last life. :x It has been a while since I've beaten the Tournament mode, I usually end up losing my last life on Holland (Second last stage excluding the Dark Tooth boss).

Lol...ya i hated not paying attention and accidently falling to my death. Happnened to me quite a few times! I think Holland is the hardest level in tm2. I always died in that one. I haven't played through the tourny in tm2 for awhile. Think i might have to boot it up again.

from Black: Suburbia(shooting the farris wheel and watching it crush everything was so awesome!) The prison ship one, and Rooftops from Black: Lost Levels: the Carnival one. i absolutely love it and think its sick from TM1: Freeway and Rooftops probably. i liked that oil was a weapon in 1 and you could make people slide off the edge I didn't play 2 enough TM3: not a single one. i hate all of them TM4: Oilrig and Neon city were pretty cool. Minion's maze is freaking horrible
