didn't watch but i can't think of any game that i thought was overwhelmingly outstanding in 2012, there are some new titles that i have yet to play so will reserve final judgement until then, but so far its been a depressing year.
ME 3 i would say is the best game of the year so far by default, lot more games yet to play though including halo 4
off the top of my head for categories GOTY has to be halo 4, but you can make a case for ME3 sports game-2k13 shooter-halo 4 multiplayer- halo 4 RPG (since we are calling it that)- ME3 most anticipated- GTA5

I still don't get why everybody is sooo hyped for GTA5. It doesn't look that much better, the changes aren't super significant, it really should be next-gen, & the last one was mediocre.

4 didn't wow me at all and got way surpassed by saints row and now true crime, people must think R* is gona come out strong or something I'm iffy though, just look at gta 4 then RDR then LA noire, they were all the same EXACT thing with just a different story and time period
The only real big blockbuster I've played this year is ME3 and I haven't finished it so that sums up my gaming year..... oh wait XD nah out of all the games I've played this year skyrim is probably still the best one (untill I buy either halo or AC3 that is XD)
The Walking Dead won game of the year during the Video Game Awards (VGAs) :P. Just throwing that out there. It's about time a small developer gets recognition XD
never played the walking dead but have a VERY hard time believing it's better than halo 4 or mass effect.... it's funny though to see a game based on a tv show win GOTY and that makes them different than games based on movies which are always the worst crap you'll ever play in history

i think Walking Dead might win, even though i don't think it deserves it. I think Journey or Halo should get it. As long as Wallking dead or Blops doesn't win i am a happy fellow
found it hilarious CoD and AC3 won ZERO awards at the VGA's, CoD never wins anything but AC3 didn't deserve any awards I can think of, just a decent game at best
