Currently Chris Benoit is stuck in the WWE mid card as the US Champion.  He has not had anything to do for weeks though.  Alot of people think that the WWE is misusing Benoit and that he should be in the main event or maybe even World Champion.  What do you guys think?  Benoit is a great technical wrestler, arguably the best on the roster, should he be in the main event?  He is also not so great on the mic, a trait which is important for a World Champion, therefore should he be in the mid-card?  What are your thoughts on this?

Also, when Benoit's contract expires what should he do?  Should he jump to TNA with the success that Angle, Christian and other former WWE wrestlers have had?  Or should he stay with the WWE?

Main event, no doubt. But the thing is, like Jericho, Benoit never had a problem of propelling young talent and allowing them to beat him. He is such an incredible talent and he is underused. But, in his 40s it would not be a sensible decision to give him all the World title reign he missed out on because then you would get the Hogan effect. Its not good for a company if your World Champion is old and your younger, talented wrestlers are made to fall for a three count at the sight of him.

I guess he realised that he knows he was and currently is one of the very best in the pro-wrestling circuit. But, its time that Benoit let the new generation to shine and I think having him at Mid Card lets those trying to get big wins over legendary opponents do just that.

Benoit's position at this stage should definately be at the upper-midcard and occasional main eventer.  Let me explain what I mean by that.  Benoit should definately be a featured part of every Smackdown and should always be involved in a pretty high level feud.  I don't think Benoit needs to be a World Champion, but I think he should be in the mix, because no one on the roster is more reliable for a quality main event than Benoit.

Right now, Benoit is being completely wasted by the WWE.  Sure, he's the US Champion, but he's not doing anything.  He doesn't have a feud and misses shows on occasion.  He doesn't need that belt and when he's not appearing on Smackdown, he's doing nothing for the belt.  I think he ought to drop the belt shortly after Wrestlemania and be put into a position to challenge the winner of Smackdown's Wrestlemania main event at the next Smackdown PPV.

Benoit's historic problem is his lack of mic skills, but in reality, he's not that bad and he can be over without them.  In the ring, he draws genuine emotion from the crowd.  Whenever he's in a high profile match, he always seems to draw a standing O from the crowd, win, lose or draw.

Should he stay or should he go?  That is a toughie.  As much as I'd love to see more Benoit vs Krazy Kurt a few dozen more times and just the potential of Benoit showing up in ROH, TNA is just such a **** show right now.  WWE seems to reward loyalty and they really need solid veterans like Benoit in and out of the ring.  He may be underused right now, but the potential is always there that they'll get behind Benoit again and let him perform to what he's capable of, while TNA hasn't been able to get its head out of its ass in its entire history.  Sadly, I'd say stay with the Evil Empire.

Personally I wish Benoit was in the main event (even as an upper mid carder like you said) but I think that his title reign back in 2004 was a thank you for everything that he has done and that will probably be his only one in the WWE.

Personally, like to see him go back to being a heel like when he first joined with the Radicals, and be a main eventer. Such a waste of talent.

I like Beniot to stay around mid-card to main event level so he can have some decent run while he is still there. Beniot should get another World Title opportunity, and I think he deserve on this year. He is a type of guy at his age to put guys over to get the business moving up. I think after Taker gets his one last title reign, he needs to put people over. HBK has been putting guys over, Flair has as well, but in Flair case, I don't want to see him lose every one of his matches just to get someone over. He needs to win every once in awhile. It would make Flair look weak. Well in any case, Beniot should have more success, and put people over at the same time.

I agree with the Dude here. Benoit is, at least IMO, the best wrestler on the roster right now, with possible exception to Finlay. However, I don't really know if he should have another world title reign. I'd obviously like to see him in the Main Event instead of Batista, but he really doesn't have that many guys to fued with in the World Title slot. He's got King Booker, but they can't drag much more out of that. Batista sucks, and I doubt WWE would let Benoit even look decent against him, and I doubt that Taker would be good for a more than a month long fued. (However, I do think a Taker-Benoit match would be good in the same way Angle-Taker was good.) In he mid-card spot, not only can he put on the best matches with guys like Guererro, Finlay, and possibly Mysterio if he ever goes up beyond Cruserweight titles again. He should always be seen as a credible challenger, and should definatly get one more go before he's gone, but he shouldn't be in the main event every single night. He should, however, be on every show.,

as much as i love Benoit, i think he's fine where he is. i mean, if he was main eventing, he'd be facing Batista or Undertaker. but at midcard, he has Bookah, Kane, Finlay, Regal, Matt Hardy, etc. the mid card has better match ups imo.

Benoit will always be a main eventer, but with the WWE stuck on Batista right now and with The Undertaker getting a shot at 'Mania,I can only see US title feuds in his future. But maybe before or during summer he'll lose the US title and go for the Heavyweight title or he will be sent to RAW,even tho he's done his best on Smackdown!,and go for the WWE Champion, whoever the hell that will be at the time.

The WWE does really need to stop it with Batista and Cena always being champions,if Batista wasn't injured he probably would have defended the title last year at 'Mania, possibly against Mysterio,or maybe a fatal 4-way,but anyways, they need to have more contenders for their top titles and give it to someone else,Cena and Batista almost held their respective titles for a year,Batista got injured and then Cena lost his title at NYR,but won it back 2 weeks later.

Benoit is amongst a group of wrestlers that deserve more title shots and championship reigns, the WWE just has to realize its more about the wrestling and skills more than the size and looks taht would sell.

I'd like to see him in the Main event, but i'm perfectly happy with him a the US champ. Benoit only has so many years left in him. He's in a spot where he can put over new talent and still keep himself over.

He SHOULD be a main eventer and he SHOULD stay in the WWE but being that like our fellow Rambone here said the WWE is stuck on Batista and Cena since they faced off at the end of Royal Rumble 2005 it's about time i dont know maybe Finlay or Mr Kennedy or Umaga or Randy Orton be champions 'cuz that is gettin old already....

Why those four? I'm not judging you, I'm just asking for the reasons.. Is it because they are young or that you just happen to think they are talented?

If, or when The Undertaker beats Batista at WM I think Benoit could have some alright matches with him. He did with Angle, he could certainly have some with Benoit.

I think he deserves to be in the title picture, and can easily put on some of the best matches out of the whole roster.

I think his current situation is kind of pointless, he doesn't do much on SD! even being the US champ. Or hell, if you're gonna keep him there have him feud with Hardy.

If there's one thing that Benoit should not do, its go to TNA. They've already spent enough on WWE talent that may not be around or push others in a year. Benoit should stay in WWE, as much as I hate saying it. He'd kept his integrity, help get people over, and still put on some good to great matches. Though Danielson vs. Benoit is a dream of mine.

Even if WWE did us it right at least 90 percent of the roster WWE takecouldn't keep up with him. I'd say he'd fare the best on SD, as they have Benoit and Finlay, and if we were lucky London and Danielson would have a match, but that's about it.

Do you honestly think a casual WWE fan would find him entertaining? Hell a lot of his matches bored me back in the day. Now I love them, but I love that type of wrestling style. Deathmatches being second, I enjoy those too.

I never said anything about his style being entertaining to casual WWE fans. I could care less. I was refering to bullerproofcow's post by saying he would have his technical masterpeices would have the best chance of happening on SD.

But, back to your post, no, his style would not be that entertaining for people brainwashed into thinking Cena and Batista are the best wrestlers in the world.
