Chris Benoit: To Resign or not to Resign? That is the question

Well Chris Benoit's contract is coming up pretty soon and i was just wondering what everyone thought about him resigning with the WWE.

here are my thoughts:

Why he will

WWE is a sure thing for Benoit, meaning he will get a decent push and be treated well within the company. he's looked at as sort of a "teacher" for the younger guys. the wwe can always count him for a good match and feud. i'm sure benoit will be offered a lucrative contract deal that should make him never worry about money again. if TNA gave sting $500,000 for 1 year, what do you think benoit will get for a couple years.

Why he won't

With the recent Eddie Guerrero bull crap that has been going on recently, i can see benoit as being fed up with all this and sick of the wwe. the wwe has been very tasteless with a lot of it's stories and oh so little can go so far. also benoit may want to try other things out. like jericho did with his music and family, benoit may want to take up canoeing or poetry writing. benoit may look at what christian is doing right now and feel interested in other companies like TNA or indy promotions like FIP and ROH. or he may want to travel to japan and go back to his roots.

either way, we the fans win. benoit is one of the greatest wrestlers ever and it's a privilege to see him wrestle. i personally would love to see him in ROH.

At this point, I'd much rather see Chris Benoit in ROH at this point, even if just for a weekend or as a part-timer, since he'd likely tour Japan.  WWE is content to just let him wallow in the mid-card, because in their view, he's not a main eventer, despite the fact that he main evented one of the highest grossing PPVs in the company's history and provided one of the most emotional title victories of all time!

Benoit vs Danielson, Benoit vs Strong, possibly Benoit vs Lance freakin' Storm, Benoit vs Styles, Ki, Daniels, Samoa freakin' Joe, Aires, Shelley and on and on.  I'd much rather watch these, even if it means paying $20+ bucks a pop and watch Benoit wrestle the way he wants to wrestle and not the way WWE forces hin too, than seeing Benoit for free facing some green monster, hired for his physique, who's as close to injuring Benoit as he is to putting on a decent match and likely winning it.

Chris Benoit was tailor made for ROH.  They are such a good fit that its too good to be true and likely, it is.  Benoit will probably stay with the WWE because he's a good company man and because they insure a secure future, financially.

But for my money, I'd much rather see Chris Benoit in Ring of Honor.  I'll settle with watching him in WWE and dream about what "might have been."

yes....very misused. lance storm was great in ECW and WCW. he was one of the best in ring talents ECW had and the same goes for WCW. he was extremely consistent in the ring and was a great worker.

when he came to the wwe, they did the stupid "anti-americans" thing and they kept him at low-mid card range. the best push he ever got was when stone cold came out and called him "boring." the crowd crapped all over Storm after that because they looked at him as a joke. he was later released and has been in retirement since. but he was at ECW One Night Stand and put on an excellent match with Jericho.

I've been wanting him to re-sign with the WWE,but with the recent disrespectful and s*** storylines as of late,I'd rather see him in an indy fed such as ROH than see him stay in the WWE,but I would prefer he NOT go to TNA.The WWE isn't as good as it once was and has lost alot of it's popularity and its because of how it is now run and Benoit I think is one of the wrestlers who spoke out about it.

If you have a chance, I suggest to everyone to find Lance Storm vs Jerry Lynn from Anarchy Rulez '99.  It is a terrific match, on par with some of the RVD-Jerry Lynn matches.

I'll go on a limb and say that he should leave WWE.

Sure the guy is past his prime, but he is considered as one of the greatest technical wrestler ever to step into the ring. 

Technical? That brings me to ROH. I drool on the possibilites of him having matches against the likes of Danielson and Joe. I'd like to see him develop his own wrestling independence that step more and working some ROH shows could very well do the trick for him and also for the fans.

Working in TNA offers him even more roads to follow and we could see a new side of Benoit that possibly saw strickened in the WWE. Benoit is a main-eventer and TNA would know how to use him. Seeing the likes of Henry main-event for the WWE while Benoit wrestles as a mid-carder sickens me. Making a move to TNA or ROH would show WWE a thing or two and also Benoit himself.

I am sure he'll stay with the WWE though. You have all the publicity and of course, the dosh (money). Working in ROH or TNA offers him a much less rate of work schedule and also to revive the passion to wrestle. 

What the whole thing with Benoit could boil down to is if he wants the lighter shcedule TNA offers.  He lives in Atlanta with his wife and kids, all he'd have to do is fly down to Orlando (40 minute flight) 3 times a month.  He can take the kids to Universal Studios, change and wrestle 2 matches, change back, pick up the kids and fly back. 

An inflated paycheck can only motivate someone so much.  He seems like such a family man that being able to spend more time with them could be the reason to go to TNA.  Besides, he would immediately be in the main event over there and could theoretically bring up some of the upper X division guys into the main event scene (you know, someone other than AJ Styles).
