- The feeling right now is that it is 50/50 that Christian Cage will re-sign with TNA. With Cage, any heat he had over leaving WWE in the past is said to be water under the bridge. With the drug testing in full swing, and the emphasis on having a muscular physique is the lowest it has ever been in the company's history, Cage could easily walk back into a high profile position as his promo work is considered top notch.

- There will be another round of contracts coming up in March. This will be an interesting time to see who exactly will have interest from WWE.

Credit: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

[UPDATE]

It is said that the reports of Christian Cage remaining with TNA were inaccurate. Sources are saying he will head back to WWE, as it would be the best deal for his family with current economy. Cage apparently has informed Dixie Carter and Jeff Jarrett that it's in his best interest to consider WWE's offer.

Last night's TNA Turning Point PPV or this week's television tapings could be Cage's final TNA appearance.

I've been giving a lot of thought to this scenario. There is very little in TNA that I praise, but Christian's work is one of the most consistent and, IMO, he has proven that he can be a main event player and a "go-to" guy. The question is, would WWE see that. If you've followed the respective careers of Edge and Christian, its pretty clear that WWE always viewed Edge as the future main eventer and had Christian penciled in as the Jannetty, whether that's right or wrong. I dunno whether that mindset that kept Christian outside looking in has really changed. One can only assume Edge's success helps, plus the prominence of both Hardys has to help him, given their histories. Christian also showed tremendous chemistry with Cena (when nobody else was, too) that could be something (certainly more than JBL-Cena) and has a great history with Jericho.

I certainly think that Christian deserves better than TNA and has earned an opportunity to get a legit main event look, I'm just not sure WWE would see it that way. Its certainly something to keep an eye on.

Big loss for TNA and a much needed player for the WWE. Captain Charisma is coming back.

Wonder what this does for C^2 losing to Royal T. Isn't he supposed to join the Main Event Mafia?

Could see him getting that small push on Raw to start, then somewhere down the line going to SD for his real push vs Edge.

Ya know, I'm actually excited for Christian. Cautiously excited, but excited. In TNA, Christian showed that he is a main event player and hopefully, WWE has taken notice. Plus, looking at where Matt, Jeff, Edge and Jericho are right now and Christian's histories with each, you gotta have some optimism about what WWE can do with him. If nothing else, anything Edge/Christian is money. And even when he left WWE, it seemed WWE was beginning to see what they had in Christian.

Heck, this might be enough to get me back on board with WWE.

It'd be interesting to see him return. I wonder if they'll go the safe route and pair him up with Edge or if they'll completely keep the 2 apart.

Im guessing Christian will go to Smackdown, fued with Shelton and win the US Title, and thats where he will stay. Possibly fued with Edge, R-Truth, MVP, and Shelton some more, but I really don't see Vince McMahon pushing him into the Main Event spotlight until a good fued between him and Edge finishes. The way I see it, Christian would only win the WWE Championship after he would take it from Edge, or when Triple H drops off the face of the earth. Hate to say it, but Christian would most likely come back and be in the exact same spot he was in before.

If he went to Raw, he would likely be on the Intercontinental Championship level, fueding with Santino, Regal, or Kofi Kingston and CM Punk. I would love to see Christian vs Micheals vs Jericho at some point, but that seems doubtful.

As for ECW, I could see him holding the ECW Championship after beating Matt Hardy. I mean come on, after Bobby Lashley and Mark Henry holding the title, who couldn't?

My point is, he would be higher up in the card if he stays in TNA. I really wish the WWE would treat him better this time, and he could elevate like Edge did. But for some reason I don't think he will.

TNA wrote Christian Cage off at the TNA Impact taping last night, as he was beat down by the Main Event Mafia after Kurt Angle said that he heard Cage was leaving TNA for WWE. As reported earlier, Cage's TNA deal expires next month.

TNA decided to go ahead and write Cage out of storylines so that they aren't left in a situation where Cage is still involved in storylines and then leaves for WWE. The belief internally is that Cage will leave for WWE when his deal expires, though TNA is still talking to Cage about staying with them. If Cage decides to stay, TNA will likely do a revenge storyline with Cage going after the Main Event Mafia.

Well more and more likely he'd go back to Double Double-E, but i'd wonder if they picked from where they started as a main event/mid-carder type, maybe a Edge-Christian return at SD! would't hurt but with all the numberous amount of reunions of tag teams happening single matches are still an option.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Christian and Edge feud and Christian going after the WWE Title. I think it would be awesome if Edge made his return at the Rumble and is number 1 and Christian is number 2.

My only complaint about him is that he acts like a little...well you know what I mean when he doesn't have his own way. THIS goes back to when he was a longhaired punk.

Well I hope Christian loves ECW, because thats what he'll probably be seeing plenty of while he's jobbing to Matt Hardy on Tuesdays.

Seriously, I'd love to see Christian become successful in whatever he does, but the WWE misused him many times over and I have almost no doubt they'll find away to misuse him again if he does re-sign with WWE.

I'm just wondering if WWE will be able to use him right, with Cena and Edge, and Orton all wanting to be used, but that would be smart for WWE to put him on ECW Cwood.

Because maybe then ECW will get more Ratings.

I seriously doubt they'll do that, especially with Raw getting heat from the USA network to get more ratings.

Plus it would take more then just Christian to improve ECW's ratings. ECW is successful enough if you think about it. They essentially took Velocity, revamped the presentation, got some of the midcarders from Smackdown! and Raw to be their official roster (mind you roster's don't mean all that much nowadays), gave the brand a horrible, horrible looking title (the current belt, not the proper belt) and BAM, its doing much better then what Velocity was doing.

Either your being sarcastic or really, really, really like ECW because no way is it more entertaining than the Attitude Era. Or most other ERA's of Raw and Smackdown! that aren't this one.
