I know this topic probably won't go over very well because I think there are a lot of CM Punk fans here, but I have to say what I feel.

A lot of CM Punk fans seem to like the guy because he's supposed to be anti-WWE, anti-Sports Entertainment, anti-Management, so forth and so on.  But the fact of the matter is that he plays the game just like the rest of the Superstars in order to get noticed.

Now I know that you're all not gullible like the "it's still real to me damnit" guy, and I'm not saying that's why everybody likes him, but I feel like some people like Punk for reasons that are not true to life.  Punk can say whatever he wants, whether it's a worked shoot or a real shoot, but at the end of the day, actions speak louder than words, and CM Punk is just another one of Vince's puppets.

Hey, I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know.

I don't care if he's a rebel or a puppet. The fact of the matter is that he is consistently the most entertaining part of any show he is on.

Normally, I follow what the more experienced of the lot here say about peeps I don't know, and then use it to judge whether they're as good as/better than/worse than what they claim. With Punk, I was told he was a great worker, and the peeps weren't wrong.

Plus, Punk put a name to my beliefs: Straight Edge. So either way, he's still a saviour to me, dammit.

Anti-WWE has nothing to do with my liking CM Punk, I like CM Punk because he is passionate about the business and about entertaining fans, he also holds up to his core beliefs (straight edge lifestyle) and is a darn good performer. He is not anti-WWE his character is and that character is going interesting places. So if your not telling us things we don't already know then why did you make the topic hmm??

Of course he is, everything WWE is still technically Vince's puppet. We like him because he takes what is is given to him, and runs with it. Like, before he left, that amazing promo he cut, the WWE told him to cut the promo, but he chose what to say.

He's a great worker, who entertains us. That's why we like him.

CM Punk is one of the few people around these days that can wrestle and talk the talk. I'm sure he still has problems just like most, if not all of the other wrestlers (or people in general) do. He's good at putting on a show for the fans though. Whether that's because it gets him more money, or because he legitimately cares - I don't know. I don't know the man personally.

Punk is the most talented man in the business right now. I hadn't watched WWE television in nearly 6 year up until this recent angle started. I don't think it's enough to get things going nor do i think the angle will really lead to anything productive ultimately, but it's been the most entertaining fresh material that's been on WWE TV in a long time. As a long time Punk supporter, i've watched him grow and get better and better over the years. His ability to cut promos has become extraordinary. There isn't anyone else in the entire business who can touch him on the mic. I'm loving these segments with him and John Cena simply because he exposes Cena as the lame promo that he is and always has been.

Let me put it to you this way - this is the first post i've made on this board in nearly 4 years. At the end of the day, it's all about turning heads and selling tickets. That's gotta tell you something about Punk and how special he really is.

When it comes to mic work, 2011 Punk > 2011 Rock.

I would ****ing love to see the two of them go back and forth though.

I don't want to see WWE bury Punk for a guy that will show up to work once every 7 years or so.

I was a fan of Punk when he debuted on WWECW, I find him to be the most entertaining wrestler the WWE had in years.

are you sure that it's punk's character or punk himself?

But the fact of the matter is that he plays the game just like the rest of the Superstars in order to get noticed.

not just the rest of the "superstars", the rest of the wrestlers, inside and out the wwe

Now I know that you're all not gullible like the "it's still real to me damnit" guy

some are and some aren't, some are another story

but I feel like some people like Punk for reasons that are not true to life.

i may've misunderstood this, but you dont believe him to truly be straight edge? if so, why?

Punk can say whatever he wants, whether it's a worked shoot or a real shoot, but at the end of the day, actions speak louder than words, and CM Punk is just another one of Vince's puppets.

technically, just like hulk hogan or bret hart or shawn michaels or stone cold or the rock or john cena, etc.

Hey, I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know.

yeah, we know

I, and a few others around here, have been Punk fans long before the WWE machine got behind him.  It has very little to do with the character he is currently portraying.

We are capable of distinguishing between the character being portrayed and the performer.  For many of us, it is the skills of the performer that have drawn us to CM Punk, not the character.  Most of us were just as drawn to Punk as the Straight Edge Savior, as well.

As someone who was a fan of Punk long before WWE, I have always been enamored with Punk's package.

...

... ... of skills.  His work in the ring and on the mic is what made me a fan of the man, not the characters he portrayed.

Also, I'd also like to bring up how Punk exited from TNA.  I dunno what it means to you, but to me it does show me that Punk, the man, has character beyond the skills at portraying characters.

;)

As someone who only knew of Punk pre-WWE because of how crazy ya'll were for him back then, I gotta say it's a damn shame backstage politix screwed casual fans out of what should have been 6 years worth of what we've witnessed this last month.
