I think they had good matches. But i think Hogan destryoed a lot of WCW in my oppinion.The_Last_RideAlso keep in mind, Hogan was just as responsible for making WCW what it was as he was for destroying it.
There were a lot of things responsible for killing WCW, Hogan wasn't alone in the destruction.
It certainly wasn't. wCw actually revolutionised pro wrestling with memorable highlights such as the nWo for example, even though the faction was running stale with the likes of Bagwell and Virgil joining forces.
I think the downfall of wCw basically erupted from the clash of egos' we saw reflect on TV.  I wouldn't necessarily blame Hogan on his own but he had a big role on destructing the fed. So did the likes of Russo, Rhodes, and of course, Bischoff.
Eh, David Arquette defeating the likes of Jarrett for the title makes me look now at Jeff in TNA and laugh. One idea that also saw a decent fed like wCw dust away...
1996-most of 1998, WCW was very good, IMO. Shortly thereafter, everything went to hell in WCW.

To me things started to go down hill when they changed over from the NWA. When I first started watching wrestling, I thought the NWA was superior to the WWF at the time. I think I finally turned away from WCW when they put the title on David Arquette. I felt that was the writing on the wall. Oh! Lets not forget putting Dennis Rodman in a wrestling match.

What! Was Dennis Rodman in a wrestling match!?
I only tuned in to watch the luchadores, not cruserweights, in actions. But later in the end of WCW, the creative or management pushed them aside. Plus making Rey, Psichosis and some others to take off their masks, that was stupud. I really hated that.L3Mthey were the best part of the later shows. when i had Directv i use to watch the spanish channels which had LucheLibre on saturday afternoons, it was great, i couldn't understand the commentary but the action was excellent.

Oh man, I miss watching lucha libre. It sucks that I don't cable to watch the action. ****!
once it evolved from the Jim Crocket era of the old NWA to the WCW we knew as when Ted Turner bought it, it was going in the right direction but could never keep up with the WWF/WWE. then they brought in the Hulkster to pick the ratings up, which it did, but they started trying too hard and some of the story lines just got too stupid to watch and it started going back down, till the final demise.if they would have not competed on TV the same night as the WWF/WWE all would have been well. the older Starcades, and Clash of the Champions matches will always be my favorites.skizz624
Skizz, While I give you credit for your rough analysis of WCW, why not mention the 2 years where WCW was breaking even with WWE from 1995-97 and the year and a half where WCW beat WWE in the ratings for over a year in 97 and 98? Why not mention that people like Bill Goldberg, Diamond Dallas Page, Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit, Eddy Guerrero, Perry Saturn and Scott Steiner had tremendous success there and most of them used their careers there so they could platform to the WWE?
In my opinion WCW had the best wrestling matches from 1996-1998, bar none. Stealing the cruiserweights from ECW was the smartest thing Bischoff could have ever done. Then plus having technicians in the ring liek the people I mentioned earlier put WCW over the top. While certain ppl like Steiner, Hogan, Nash, DDP, Sting and Goldberg didn't need great storylines because they were already established, the younger guys like Mysterio, Helms, Saturn, Benoit , Guerrero, damn even people liek Raven,Shane Douglas, Kanyon who had talent, were never given a real opportunity to succeed and after a while the guys who were older couldn't run the company any more, people wanted to see the younger guys, the only problem was they were either wasted, like Mike Awesome and a few other guys, or they jumped ship to WWE or back to ECW.
Again in my opinion, things were getting really bad when Vince Russo and Ed Ferrera came in, but they real ruined that company. They got off to a good start giving the younger guys an opportunity like Kidman fighting Hogan and Stasiak Fighting Hennig, but when it came to take these things to the next level, they screwed up and gave Jarrett the title. That was another huge mistake I believe.
anywayz, I have easily over 200 hours of wcw tapes in my room from those days(96-98) and they were by far my favorite in ECW,WCW, and WWE. Competition was what this buisness always needs, it's just sad there's not as much right now as there should be.
I watched WCW from 97 to the end of 98, and all I can remember are good times, I watched every show and I ordered all most every PPV, I stopped watching it when Goldberg lost the title to Nash and when Nash lost it to Hogan, the last thing I remember about WCW was that damn finger poke.MetalDragonKing
I still remember that night, and I still have that nitro on tape. I was so disgusted at Nash after that night lol. I was 14 and already watched him work his way up from Vinny Vegas and Diesel and I was so upset he just gave the title up like that.

I think it showed the ECW and WCW had something in common, their greatest strengths, heyman and Bischoff were there biggest weaknesses
When i was young and all that WCW vs WWF stuff was going on i still NEVER watched WCW. It was a bootlegged crappy version of WWF to me. When i saw goldberg i saw a Fake-MeOut Stone Cold Stive Austin. I had a friend who always wanted me to watch it. I watched it for like 5 seconds one night and then quickly turned the channel. I don't care waht anyone says, i hate WcW. SwimPUNK
First off saying that Goldberg is a "fake me out version "of the texas rattle snake is pretty damn ignorant. LoL then you go and say that your entire knowledge of WCW is five seconds worth of watching it and you hate it?
If you were smart, you'd realize atleast 50% of the wrestlers that you watch in the WWE came from there at one point or another.
This may be hard for you to realize, but without WCW, their may well be no WWE today. Look at the crap they were doing when WCW was winning the ratings. The competition put a fire in Vince's azz, and made him change the way he was running his company.
Now look how bad WWE has been since theres no real competition for the past few years. Wake up and smell the coffee dude, or start doing Yoga and open your mind to other things like DDP lol
