bought WCW and became WWE it all went downhill, i miss everything from the WWf adittude era, the logo, the stages, the hardcore title, better storylines, better use of superstars, i mean what the hell happened.

Anyone know how long it is til HHH, Steph and Shane take over?

No, no, and no.

The roster split wasn't a reason. If anything, it can be argued that the roster split was a good thing. It gave more guys, especially cruiserweights, a chance to be on TV.

One tag team won't make or break a company.

The Hardcore title sucked.

The reason WWE went downhill is because of no competition. When nobody else is a threat, they can do whatever they want without any consequences. If TNA ever becomes a major threat, the quality of WWE will improve.

Yeah and I think we're starting to see it happen right now.

TNA is now running house shows already. They have fans rioting WWE's Byte This amongst other WWE relations. Vince has probably started to notice "something is up".

if anything ruined the last 5 years of WWE, it is bad investments, poor writing, and lackluster matches.

the invasion angle was a fiasco and wwe dropped the ball when they hired kevin nash, goldberg, and scott steiner.

Yet again, there's Vince owning the "rights" to names.

Names such as The Dudley Boyz now known as Team 3D, Rhyno now spelt with an "i" in TNA prop up in mind. Apparently WWE holds the rights to Matt Hardy's name even though Matt is Matt...

So yeah, that's lame n'all you know.

What happened? This happened...

-ECW and WCW were bought, which left WWE without any competition...no competition,=no threat=laziness=lower quality. On side note, this was the begging of the end for the Attitude era

-The Rock left WWF/WWE (for few months), which left WWF/WWE without their biggest face and than...Vince scrambled to find replacement and had little success doing so

-Both Triple H and Chris Benoit were injured, which left the WWF/WWE without two of their bigger superstars, at the time

-Invasion happen and other than RVD, very little in good came from it....too many belts, too many workers, too many lackluster matches and too much terrible writing led this to be one of the worst story-lines in WWE and wrestling history...

WWE has never fully recovered from the invasion story-line and this was simply the begging of WWF's/WWE's downfall from grace. The serious lack of competition is what happen to WWF/WWE...again, no competition=no threat=laziness=lower quality.

JML, could you please explain why the hardcore title sucked? Very unpredictable it was, bad ass it was.

The reason WWE went down hill was the storylines. Look at Jillian Halls face(b4) and you have your explanation

Dark_Hylian8

I am obviously not JML897, but I am sure he will agree with me on the following points...

  • Cookie sheets, shopping carts and trash cans do not equal hardcore and neither does Bob Holly
  • It was utterly ridiculous on how almost everyone was the champion, how ridiculously often the belt changed hands and how guys such as Steven Richards were 16 time champ (or was that 21 times) or how Crash Holly was 12 time champ...took away  practically all credibility away from the belt
  • The matches became repeative, predicatable and boring

Simply put, the belt was joke, unless RVD was holding the belt, IMHO.

Edit: I will say this...it was humorous on how WWF/WWE used old, broken-down WWF championship belt as the "hardcored" title. However, that was obviously not worth the trouble that belt brought, IMHO.

I see your point, but that IMHO was the reason the Hardcore title was so well...hardcore. It was the one title worth killing yourself for even if you only got to hold it for 10 seconds. And please explain to me why Hardcore Holly is so hated around here. IMHO he is a veteran and is pretty cool

Dark_Hylian8

Well, this is getting off-topic, but I will answer your questions for you...IMHO:

  • He is bland and boring in the ring...he is nothing special
  • Has been know to be very unprofessional in the ring, ask Rene Dupree :|
  • Does not have any charisma as face
  • He does not take care of his opponents in the ring and has been know to injury people in the ring
  • Simply put, the name...he is far from being hardcore
  • He is full of himself and thinks he is something special, when he is far from that...he has big ego

I think it was the purchase of WCW which brought the decline in WWE's creativeness. When you look at WWE before WCW and Nitro was formed in '95, WWE was producing just really a lot of distorted wrestling with (compared to now) few stortylines. Their roster consisted of 6-8 main eventers, 4 mid carders and 20-40 jobbers/ Nitro was producing waky and inovative ways at portraying pro wrestling. They were the first to do most things in the pro wrestling world. They were the first to show a live Monday night show (Nitro), they were the first to produce a cruiserweight division and they were the first to produce and undisputed champion. Ok, wrestlecrap can prove that for some of the time WCW didn't have some of the greatest of ideas, but it kept WWF on their feet. I think it was 'the scare' that brought WWE to become the way it is today, the fear that he would go bust. Bischoff's first appearance on RAW showed that Nitro was the no.1 monday night wrestling show on the planet for 84 weeks in a row which forced WWF and Vince to do something about it. The attitude era showed purely what they could do and under the pressure either WCW, Eric and V. Russo had to crack or WWE creative, Vince McM and the 'F. Now knowing that the 'F became the victor, it took a huge weight off Vince and WWE and now the wrestling you see today is that of pre-WCW supremicy. Oh, don't worry, I think we are (and those who've never watch wrestling till after the WWF Additude era) in for a big surprise after WM22 and the years ahead that with the constant threat of TNA and the rumors circulating about iMPACT! moving to Mondays that we are in for another 'Additude' era sooner or later. That, IMHO is the reason behind this "The Power Is Back" charade that were seeing. Notice how when TNA moved to spikeTV this whole SmackDown! vs. RAW thing came about. I think they are closing the rivalry to deal wit TNA. Because like WCW, Vince hates competition. That could also be why they are bringing back Saturday Night Main Event after Wrestlemania. To deal with iMPACT! Oh Vince...for shame...

when he first purchased WCW he tried to bring it back up and have it run by itself. Only after that was unsuccsessful did he do the invasion storyline
