Ring Of Honor and KOCH Vision have reached an agreement to release a series of exclusive ROH DVDs. The first two DVDs are set for an April 1st release in retail outlets nationwide.

"Blood Stained Honor" and "Stars Of Honor" will be the first two releases. Both DVDs will be 180+ minutes and feature new commentary tracks on some classic matches. As a bonus the packaging will include a ROH limited edition trading card. There will be six cards total. The suggested retail price will be $14.98.

"This is an exciting opportunity for Ring Of Honor," ROH President Cary Silkin said. "This will make the ROH product very accessible to a whole new audience. We are very proud of both these DVDs and feel they will be great for any new or longtime ROH fan."

"Blood Stained Honor" will feature the violent side of ROH with some of the most crimson covered contests in ROH history. The match listing has:

April 1st? My gawd, that is long. But hey, in ROH, waiting is common.

So, what exactly does that mean? Will these DVDs be seeing wide (mainstream) release or what?

Also, for those of you that have seen these shows, what are your thoughts on them? I mean, are they recommendable?

Blood Stained Honor has is a must buy if they don't change any of the matches every one of those matches are good/great. The Stars of Honor looks good but Blood Stained Honor is going to be great.

In short, yes, I believe that's what they mean by "retail outlets nationwide." As in you won't have to order online.

As for the "more details" part, I'm going to assume that these are only the first set of releases.

Also, for those of you that have seen these shows, what are your thoughts on them? I mean, are they recommendable?Link256
I've seen most of the matches on both sets. "Blood stained Honor" is an interesting release because that's not exactly the focus of ROH and those matches aren't necessarily my cup of tea. Also, most of thses matches are parts or culminations of larger feuds that may not translate to DVDs. The Joe vs Jay cage match is one of the most bloody matches I've ever seen. Its disgustingly bloody. There was some great drama in the match (It took place at ROH's largest show at the time, At Our Best, which was held in New Jersey Wrestlemania XX weekend to capitilize on Mania and is the MOTN for that show), but it is bloddy. Punk-Rave is all right, but its a piece of a larger feud between Punk and Rave and I'm not sure how it'll be put on this show as there are some shenanigans about it and this was before Rave turned the corner in my eyes. GenNext vs Embassy is the culmination of a larger feud between the two groups (a feud I absolutely love). Its a long match and drags at times and without context I'm not sure it'd be as good. Still there is some amazing, insane stuff here and my personal favorite match on this set that I've seen on this set. Cabana-Homicide is far and away the best match those two had and its a very good brawl. Team ROH vs Team CZW is another match that's a part of the larger feud that may not carry over with context, especially if there's still no commentary. Its a lot like the GenNext-Embassy match. I've heard good things about both Jimmy Jacobs vs Colt (also part of a larger feud) and Briscoes vs Generico and Steen (at least your familiar with). There's a lot of debate around whether the Street Fight or the Ladder War is the best match these two had. I approach this set with a certain amount of caution if you aren't a fan of bloody, hardcore action. Its an odd choice, IMO.

I like the stuff on "Stars of Honor" a lot more without the reservations. I don't think there's too much blow away, MOTY stuff on it, but its a very fun collection of matches and I've seen everything but Homicide vs MVP (I wouldn't expect much out of this. I hear that MVP improved massively in WWE from his early work, which was more in FIP than ROH). Joe vs Punk is their third and final ROH singles match and probably their most accessible, even though its their final, as it doesn't have the 60 Minute pace of the others. Its good and the new commentary should be an asset. The bonus history will definately be an asset, too. Gibson vs Roderick is a very good match, one of the first that got people taking notice of Strong. Gibson puts him over pretty strongly (no pun intended). Danielson vs Spanky is a true gem. These are two overlooked matches from the screwy Best of the American Super Juniors show and should actually imrpove from being removed from that context. The rest of the matches are all fun. The two Hardy matches are probably two of his best singles efforts that I can remember. The new commentary is the big draw for me to this DVD. The commentary (which I assume will be from Prazak and Leonard) replaces some pretty atrocious commentary, particularly memorable from the Joe-Punk match.

April 1st is a long time indeed, so I'm willing to wait to buy these. It looks good. I don't buy DVD's online all that much since I don't do much online shopping. These two will probably be my start of ROH collection.
