The Wrestling-Observer Newsletter reports that last week’s newsworthy, scripted exchange between Triple H and John Cena, in which HHH verbally attacked the latter for being a poor wrestler, was the beginning of a new Vince McMahon philosophy that will more openly address Cena’s limited in-ring performance.

McMahon has come to the realization that the crowd’s dislike for Cena can no longer be ignored; sources say that over the next few weeks, there will be more promos criticizing Cena as a bad in-ring wrestler.

Previously, WWE officials were committed to protecting Cena’s image due to the long-term plan of maintaining him as a credible face opponent for Triple H and because he plays the role of “off-air champion” very well

It's about time WWE realizes and is going to take a stand on this.  However, I don't want to see Cena just drop out of the picture totally.  I think he can & will improve over time.

They are destroying his career!!! Why not just tell him to wrestle better? Why not turn him heel?

We already know that he sucks, now Vince has finally figured it out and he's going to shove it down our throats.

Cena's shown he could wrestle...so instead of telling whoever that Cena could wrestle the way he used to, Vince does this? I'm usually all-for Cena-bashing, but this is stupid.

Considering the crowd reactions from last week's face off, there is no logic on why they should follow the angle. The crowd didn't jeer at Hunter for insulting his ability; quite the opposite really.

And when HHH gets cheered you know there's a problem...

Sooooo stupid.......

Although on a more interesting note, anyone see the little contradiction here? Didn't the Vince Mcmahon philosophy of pro-wrestling put look and charisma before actual ring work? So what, now ring work all of a sudden is important? I guess the inconsistencies aren't just contained in the writing after all. They shine through Vince's own inconsistent philosophies. But that's all beside the point. The point is, as usual, they're barking up the wrong tree. I'm pretty sure it's the character and the lame ass raps that have turned the fans against Cena than his ring work.

Slim chance here, but maybe he'll lose the strap to a better face. I'd say RVD but he's in MITB. Maybe HBK in a uber random twist, where Vince uses HHH for "Revenge".

As much as I hate Cena, this is the wrong way to go about this. I mean, this time alst year he was the hottest superstar in the WWE. If they really want to fix this problem, they need to have Cena act like he used to.

To be honest, I don't think thats the case. I just think thta Vince is doing something because a lot of non-online fans have noticed it.

Yes, i know. I was just pointing out the irony. Before, ring work was practically irrelevant. Now it's showing up on radar, even if it's just a dot.

Boy, that's just ****ing brilliant.  You're face champion is faltering, so instead of trying remedy the problems, let's throw him under the bus.  Brilliant.

Not only will this not sell PPVs, its going to bury the hell out of the guy that looked to be the legit big thing not all that long ago.

Look, im a big Cena fan, but i have come to the relization, that in the past year or two hes in ring performance has gone down hill. OK. So instead of trying to solve the problem and give him some better moves, and write some better matches, what do they do? They decide to make him look even worse by making people insult him from it.

This is just f*cking rediculous.

So, rather than actually fixing the problem... WWE is going with the push of  glorifying John Cena's weakness, in sad and illogical attempt to gain momentum... talk about dumb... The "heart" push will not work and the only thing I think this will accomplish is well... nothing... and more booing if anything.

John Cena main problmes are due with his child-friendly, 1980's push on his character/attitude, not his in-ring skills... Which, by the way, could be improved if WWE management and John Cena would stop relying on formula style and wrestle more in the vain of his early work in the WWE.

The character/attitude problems could be fixed if John Cena gained the "edge" factor (I am talking about character/attitude wise, not the worked named Edge) and turned heel... why not? It worked for The Rock... and him and John Cena obviously share simlar factors in common.

Edit: And yes... I know I am being "Captain Obvious" with lot my points... whatever, I still believe they are true.

i agree with everything you said. The reason why Cena is an unsuccesful face is because he is way, way to child frendly. The reason that i started liking him in the first place was because of his hip hop mentallity and his "i don't give a f*ck what you think" like attitude. Now its actually really pathetic. Its like making a rap album for 4 year olds...it doesn't make sense and it won't work.

Whatever they do with him now is a waste of time as they have destroyed his character with the constant over-pushing and letting him keep the title for 12 months. I dont watch WWE anymore for reasons like this. They have become a laughing stock in my eyes. Its all well and good them saying hes crap on air but they still wont try and change what happens in the ring. If you remember, when Cena debuted he actually showed some ring skills. They just never developed and instead he was focused on making him WWE's new marketing *****.

What they should do, is get all of Cena's main opponents (Show, HHH, Angle, Booker, Y2J, HBK) and one by one come out on stage and give a point of how bad his wrestling is. I hope he gets ripped the crap out of.

What they should do is turn Cena heel and put a face in the title-match at WrestleMania (triple threat style).

How great is it..... Probably the best thing since Sliced Bread #2. :P

Unfortunately though, the WWE will probably think this is some type of success b/c they want the fans to bash Cena since the wrestlers are doing it also, which in their eyes, would seem like some type of victory because they got the crowd to do what they wanted, even though many of us have been chanting this for months now.

Thank god, Vince just loves to drag on stupid things like "Rapper wrestlers"

Now hopefully the little kids will see that Cena is embarassing to watch and has no talent and will grow up.

I think he could wrestle better with very little training. He has no problem pulling off the 6 moves he knows... Teach him something other than the many ways to glorify a fireman's carry/headlocks and he'll get more support. Also, maybe make the beginning of the HHH/Cena feud about Cena's lack of talent and have him amazingly pull off awesome moves. It would be strange to pull off, but it should work... It would kinda be a way to say "What now?" to all the haters through Triple H. Actually, I think they should randomly give Shelton Benjamin the title! Shelton rocks! (and, in my opinion, is the wrestler with the most potential in the WWE)
