PWInsider.com is reporting that a "huge WWE name" is considering joining TNA. The person in question is Jim Ross.

His contract with World Wrestling Entertainment is set to expire at the end of the year and company officials have yet to offer him a new one.

It should be noted however that Ross is considering all of his options and joining TNA is very much a possible scenario he's taking very seriously. He could just as well stay in WWE though.

Vince, for the love of Christ, do not let this happen.

It's probably just a bargaining tactic JR can use to get more money for his next contract.

Jim Ross on His Contract Status: I can tell you that any questions regarding my contract status have been body slammed meaning I am not and will not address them. There is so much BS floating around about my employment status it has become embarrassing. WWE is pleased with my work and perceives me as an asset that they want to retain. Once we officially begin our negotiations we will see where it takes us. In the meantime, I have no apprehensions as to those negotiations as I have another business to help build in JR's Family BBQ and this website for that matter. I am stay extremely busy as many of you know and perhaps too busy as my smarter than me wife has reminded me several times in the past few weeks. She's right, for the record. Plus, it's football season which is my favorite time of the year and I refuse to get immersed in any thing that takes my mind away from my work and the Sooners. End of story....for now.

JR going to TNA is the worst career move he can make. Ok fine, going to an unknown independent promotion is the worst career move he can make, but why would he go to TNA, when he is a well established, and arguably the most recognized commentator, who works for the biggest fish in the industry? Surely, a rumour but I will be shocked and disappointed if he leaves to TNA.....Would be a good acquisition for TNA though....

Just not something I can see happening. Just a feeling on my part, but my gut tells me JR would sooner retire from wrestling, versus the option of working for somebody other than the WWE.

In all likely, JR will probably negotiate a new contract with the WWE.

It's probably just a bargaining tactic JR can use to get more money for his next contract. JML897
If anything, this.

Personally, I just can't see it happening. Then again, I thought the exact same thing about Mick Foley and look how that turned out!

Jim Ross wouldn't go there. I honestly think he'd start working independent shows before TNA, maybe even Dragon Gate USA.

Even if TNA were to get him, it's a total dick move since they just replaced Don West with Taz and they'd probably get rid of Tenay so they could have an all ex-WWE announce table. That would piss off way too many people in the company and reinforce the notion that "if you're not ex-WWE, then move over so we can push them instead of you."

Though what you just said is true, JR > Tenay, by a lot.

Anyways, Jim Ross will not go to TNA. Who knows who started the rumor, but i don't even think WWE even belives there is a chance that he will end up going to TNA. Jim Ross would probably retire if he doesn't get the kind of contract he wants from the E, and just go work with the family BBQ restaurants, or what he said they were doing.

I really dont think the wwe would lose an asset if they lost jim ross. i personally enjoyed watching raw a few years back when it was Joey Styles and The King. even though Joey Styles will prob never come back to raw, im just saying there are many others who can do Jim Ross's job better than he can
