WWE Raw star and current Champion John Cena is said to be currently working through several injuries. The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Cena is battling neck and hip issues, as well as persistent and lingering elbow issues. While nothing has been mentioned in terms of him taking off any time in the ring, it's being said that Cena is more beat up then he is letting on. More on this developing story as it becomes available.

I could almost see this as a benefit if the creative team does it right. Just a random idea, but what if an angle was done in which he had to leave, thus threatening the main event at WM28. The Rock can resurface to talk down on Cena until he inevitably returns around the Royal Rumble to further build the fued (chances are this would be the time when they'd address it again anyways). Aside from potentially helping someone like R-Truth get over, we see less of Cena on TV (YAY!), and it provides another dynamic for the Cena/rock fued to follow.

Of course, I doubt anything like this will happen. :(

You would think they would be taking more precautions to avoid serious injury. Especially with the main draw of Wrestlemania 28 on the line.

True, but at the same time, with the sad state the roster is in, Cena going down would be a massive blow to the WWE.

At the same time, getting Cena out of the way would help the others on the roster develop, therefore eliminating the problems WWE has.

I bet this means Batista and Jericho are getting even more calls to come back if this is true. If one of them can come back as a face WWE could get away with giving Cena some much needed rest. Better to suffer a little in the ratings during the summer than possibly blow your main event for Wrestlemania.

The ratings are going to suffer anyways, seeing as how so many fans are fed up with seeing the same crap on RAW week after week. So, Cena there or not doesn't really matter that much. Of course, without Cena, that'd force WWE to put somebody over (at least temporarily) OR use Rey Rey as the Top face... which, honestly, I'd rather watch Cena all day than Rey Rey.

That match better not be Cena's Wrestlemania 18.

Do you really think the Rock is not going to pass the torch to Cena? This is one of the biggest dream matches still possible. Its Attitude vs. PG. Its two of the biggest names associated with wrestling by the mainstream audience. Rock's going to put Cena over clean, raise his hand in the ring, and confetti will fall.

The only way Rock wins at Wrestlemania is if he's coming back to wrestle full time, which I don't see happening.

Bench Cena. Give him a few months to recover from his injuries and to create a new gimmick. I'd be fine with him going back to the wack rapper gimmick.

Never gonna happen.

Love him or hate him, Cena is stuck with his superman gimmick forever. Period. Unless something really radical happens, forcing him to change, the most you'll ever see is attire changes.

Um...I don't recall ever saying that I think it won't happen. The point of my post was that I think it WILL happen and I don't want it to. Cena's going to get boos across the world if it does happen. Not a great way to put him over.

I'll just hope him saying that he wouldn't leave us again was truth, that he comes back full-time and gives Cena the Rock Bottom for the 1-2-3. I don't think so, though.
