I really thought this was the point in this feud where Kofi could have really gotten OVER. You think this was a missed opportunity or is there more to come?
Randy Orton was the huge push. Kofi was roflstomping Orton, then the train screeched to a halt. I don't remember why. With how fast the change happened he must have gotten into trouble in some form.
If I remember right, there was a report of people in the company not happy with Kofi's performance or something. I do remember the whole STUPID thing, which was hilarious. Who knows though.
Honestly though, I don't see him being top place material. Not unless they completely repackage him. I wouldn't mind him being part of a solid mid card though, if it ever happens.
Kinda funny, Randy Orton both created and destroyed Kofi's legitimacy. Kofi looked like a badass, poised for great things when he "boom dropped" Orton through a table in MSG. When he dropped the bad Cool Runnings accent, it sounded like he could be decent to solid on the mic and could, perhaps, break out of the John Morrison/Shelton Benjamin rut. Then, we found out he was "STUPID" and he hasn't really even flirted with legitimacy since. However, essentially everything I think about Kofi's big time potential comes from that feud with Orton. Honestly, I think putting him in the John Morrison/Shelton Benjamin rut may be a little generous. Morrison tended to get overrated, but he showed flashes of greatness and did have some really good matches (CM Punk). Shelton had a couple of truly great matches. I honestly can't remember Kofi being involved in any matches nearly as good as Shelton and Morrison at their best, but maybe I missed them. He's produced some terrific highlight spots in ladder matches (also blown a few of 'em), but he has not produced much in the way of memorable matches from where I sit.
I must have missed this "STUPID," thing. Is there a youtube link? To me his main issue is despite his athleticism, he still manages to botch the "simplest" of moves in his repetoire from time to time.

Yea, that is. Supposedly, it was supposed to end with a Punt Kick. (You even see Orton getting ready) and Kofi screwed up. From what I read, it wasn't the first time he screwed up, so management's faith in him wasn't too high.
It was interesting seeing what Kofi was doing with the chance WWE gave him, that said ultimately I don't think anything really would have come out of it. Kofis a decent mid carder but has yet to show that hes really anything special.
