Due to the severe weather in the Northeast (we are expecting a heavy snowstorm tonight), TNA has asked the workers who are scheduled to appear on both tonight's Ring of Honor show in Long Island, NY and tomorrow's PPV in Orlando to get down to the Sunshine State as soon as possible so as to not be snowed in up North. Homicide, Alex Shelley and Jay Lethal will miss tonight's ROH show. Austin Aries and Roderick Strong, who are booked against Andy Douglas and Chase Stevens tomorrow, are staying up north and will work the ROH show, which will be rebooked tonight due to the weather and the changes.
http://www.pwinsider.com/ViewArticle.asp?id=16252&p=1

 Dark Matches:

a)Smash Bradley & Bobby Dempsey over Rick Titus & Keenan Quinn

 b) Derek Dempsey defended the Top of the Class Trophey over Shane Hagadorn

Main Show:

1) ADAM PEARCE over PELLE PRIMEAU & MITCH FRANKLIN...Pelle and Franklin were set to square off, but Pearce interrupted and took on and beat both men. He then declared that he'd be sitting at ringside...right in front of GLF!

-JULIUS SMOKES and THE GRIM REEFER came out. COLT CABANA soon followed, but as he was making his way out MISERIA CANTARE hit the audio system and....

CM PUNK returns to ROH tonight!!!! The crowd went absolutely APE!)

Punk started his promo by saying that he does not have a lot of friends...because some people think he's cocky and he even said he went so far as to try and rub off his tattoos last week.

He was then attacked by Adam Pearce, only to be saved by COLT CABANA.

Punk then asked Cabana why he changed. Punk said that Cabana's mom had even called and asked where she could find Colt.

Cabana told Punk he doesn't need his Dad to be a father-figure and he doesn't need Punk to be a father-figure.

Punk left the ring and Cabana was jumped by GRIM REEFER.

2) COLT CABANA over GRIM REEFER with a lariat

3) RICKY REYES over KID MIKAZE

4) NIGEL MCGUINNESS retained the PURE TITLE over AUSTIN ARIES in a reportedly "really good" match

*RETURN DATE TO LAKE GROVE, NY is FRIDAY, MAY 12th*

-RODERICK STRONG hit the ring and called out BRYAN DANIELSON. He stated that since he is the #1 contender to the title, he should get his shot tonight.

BJ WHITMER came out and told Strong he was tired of being passed over and challenged him for the #1 contendership.

BRYAN DANIELSON made his way out and told Strong that he was going to give him the title shot tonight, but.....Strong doesn't deserve it.

PRINCE NANA made his way out and stated that since he could not secure Alex Shelley's flight from Ghana that he was bringing out one of the first members of The Embassy and the 2nd ever ROH Champion, XAVIER!!!

5) BRYAN DANIELSON over XAVIER via DQ to retain the ROH WORLD TITLE due to interference from JIMMY RAVE

Rave attacked Danielson and CM PUNK made the save, only to be attacked again by ADAM PEARCE.

It appears the main event will be DANIELSON/PUNK v. RAVE/PEARCE.

6) JIMMY YANG over JERRELLE CLARK, AZRIEAL, & JASON BLADE in a 4CS

7) RODERICK STRONG over BJ WHITMER...following the match, Whitmer would not shake hands.

8 ) CM PUNK & BRYAN DANIELSON over JIMMY RAVE & ADAM PEARCE when PUNK made RAVE submit.

Punk gave a speech following the match.

So far a solid show, especially since they had to make some last minute changes..... I just wish Strong would get a title shot.

updated the thread with the last results.

bad show. only reason to buy is punk's return, whitmer/strong (maybe), nigel/aries, and danielson/punk vs. rave/pearce (maybe)

so i guess i'll save my money so i can buy the 4th anniversay show if it's good.

Have to say I'm more than a little disappointed in ROH's "Big Surprise" considering the hype it was given.

I like CM Punk and all, but a one shot surprise appearance just doesn't do it for me, especially considering the hype it was given.  I was expecting something to make me forget about Low Ki and this was not it.  ROH was handed a lemon and they did their damnedest to make some lemonade, but it just didn't work out.

I blame TNA.

To say it was a poorly booked show would be understatement of the century. Not only did the big surprise fail to live up to the ridiculous amount of hype that was put it into it, but we got no Shelley/Danielson.

Oh yeah, and Xavier returned. :|

What the hell ever.

I'm grateful that i finally got to see Punk live, but that doesn't excuse the fact that the show itself was a miserable trainwreck. Those who even dare to call it solid are shameless kool aid sippers.

Meh, honestly, the show would've been dissapointing anyway, with Shelley/Dragon being the only saving grace. Gabe dug his own grave when he hyped the *uck out of this show. Punk returning for one night only was great stuff, but not something i would've "regretted not seeing for the rest of my life". The card from top to bottom was simply not good. I mean come on, Strong/Whitmer? Danielson/Xavier? Grim ***ing Reefer?! That's the best you can do?! How about Danielson/Punk? That would've made up for the **** undercard, tenfold. The main event tag was match of the night, not that that says a whole lot. No one in that building, including myself, wanted to see it.

hell, Danielson vs. Delirious would have made up for it. where was jack evans? matt sydal? claudio? why the hell put Pearce in the main event? and yeah i agree, the undercard was crap except for Aries/Nigel. if it were Punk and Strong vs. Cabana and Danielson, that would have been great.

oh and what do you think the deal was between Cabana and Punk when he said "he didn't need a father figure". do u think there might be something going on there, maybe laying down the grounds for a future return for punk?

edit: they should have announced Xavier's match, i would have taken my refund and left. i would never want to sit thru an Xavier match. unless he was literally killed by Joe.

i bet that was a letdown, Rave vs. Danielson would have been better. i love it how shelley "couldn't get a flight from Ghana"

why couldn't they have The Briscoes return tonight? or have Doug Williams come back? or Amazing Red? there r so many other great guys they could have had come back for a one night thing instead of Xavier.

Honestly, even Aries/Nigel wasn't that great..... they didn't mesh very well at all. As for those other guys you mentioned, other commitments to fulfill, obviously.

I don't think there was any real significance to that line. Seriously, between Prince Nana's random appearances throughout the show, the "father figure" line, and the way Punk was awkwardly interjected, Gabe must've been injecting the strongest stuff on the planet while he wrote this show.

Yeah, honestly, after last night, RoH's stock has definitely dropped considerably, in my eyes. The "refund stipulation" was such  horse****. Very sleazy, and i'll admit, i bought it. I was naive. This company had never screwed with me before so i was willing to just sit there right on my ticket, have faith in RoH management, and try to enjoy the show. If Xavier/Danielson was the third match, you'd best believe i would've marched right over to security and demanded my $30.

Punk/Danielson would've been the logical choice. It would've put over Danielsons' reign further and since Punk isn't a regular worker, it wouldn't have mattered if Dragon went over cleanly.

It would've been hard to get Williams, since he's one of the hottest international workers on the market. As for the Briscoes, dunno. If Red showed up, i would've asked for a refund just as quickly.

All in all, not a good way for RoH to start 2006. I'm not about to hop on the whole "OMGZ RoH IZ TEH SINKING SHIP!!1111" bandwagon just yet, especially since 2005 started off just as auspiciously, but after two mediocre-downright poor shows in a row, they better pick up and start building new stars. PUSH JIMMY YANG! Yang was the most over worker on the show, aside from Punk. Hopefully, Punk, London, Spanky, and Gibson will be casualties of spring cleaning this year.

Also, were you at the show last night?

_Muta

no (i guess i sorta made it sound like i was with the refund comment). i was one of the guys sitting at home getting mad about Xavier and Adam Pearce main eventing.

i live in the midwest so the only chances i have to see ROH is in Chicago and St. Paul.
