August 27th: ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson retained the ROH World Title last weekend by going to two electric 60 minute draws. Friday in St. Paul saw Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness end in a 60 minute draw with each man tied at one fall each. After the match, Danielson said the Pure Title was retired, but gave the physical belt to McGuinness since he credited McGuinness as his toughest opponent and the man that made the Pure Title. Saturday in Chicago saw Colt Cabana come within 30 seconds of winning the ROH World Title. Cabana held a 1-0 lead in a best of three falls match until the 59:30 mark. Danielson hit a low blow behind the refs back and then scored the tieing pin with a small package as time ran out. Both these contests were dramatic encounters that showcased each athlete at his best. It was McGuinness and Cabana's last opportunities at the World Title during Danielson's title reign. Danielson might have been kept the belt, but he paid a price.

August 27th: About 10 minutes into the Cabana match last night Danielson suffered a separated shoulder. Danielson gutted out the final 50 minutes of the match and wrestled in excruciating pain in what will go down as legendary effort. Danielson went to the emergency room this morning and had his shoulder popped back into place. He will see a specialist this week for a MRI and we will have an update on his condition when we get one.

August 27th: "Glory By Honor V Weekend" on 9/15 in East Windsor, CT and 9/16 in NYC with the debut at the Manhattan Center will be the biggest weekend of the year. Tickets for both shows are now on sale at ROHwrestling.com and by calling 215-781-2500. We now have two huge announcements for these events.

August 27th: There is a buy 3, get 1 free sale on ROH show, Straight Shootin' & Secrets Of The Ring DVDs at ROHwrestling.com until this Wednesday. For every three DVDS you buy, you will get one free. This includes new releases like Straight Shootin' With Jim Cornette & JJ Dillon. See Cornette interview the legendary Dillon as these two managers shoot about NWA, The Four Horsemen, terrorities, working in WWE, being a part of Vince McMahon's inner circle, WCW and more!!! Cornette knows how to get all the best stories and scoops out of Dillon. This is one informative and entertaining shoot. Check the main page of ROHwrestling.com for all the details on the sale and catch up on your ROH show DVDs with the big sale!!!

August 27th: Legendary WWWF Champion Bruno Sammartino will be a special guest at the 9/16 event at the Manhattan!!! You will have an opportunity to meet Sammartino as he returns to the shadows of MSG where he had some of his greatest matches. We will have more on Sammartino's appearance in the upcoming weeks.

August 27th: Last Friday in St. Paul saw Roderick Strong pin Samoa Joe with the Gibson Driver in a ROH World Tag Team Title Match. It is rare that Joe is defeated and now he wants to even the score. Joe has challenged Strong to a one-on-one match and Strong has accepted. It will be Samoa Joe vs. Roderick Strong in their first ever singles ROH match on 9/15 in East Windsor, CT. This is a main event on any show!!!

August 27th: Steve Corino will make his return to ROH on 10/27 in Dayton and 10/28 in Chicago.

On paper, these two shows are looking like they may just be the best shows since Supercard and BTOB.

However, you have to hope that Danielson is going to be healthy enough to compete, as he's rather integral to both nights.

I kinda wish Aires's title shot was a bigger deal and not caught the night before KENTA, but I'm sure, like Strong did the night before Storm, he and Danielson'll deliver a great match... if their bodies don't fall apart mid-way through.  You also have to wonder if Gabe'll throw out another time limit, if for no other reason that to rile up the ROH boards again.  We know Aires and Dragon can go the distance and keep things interesting.

Strong vs Joe = SOLD

I don't think I am fully prepared for how awesome the Brisoes vs KENTAfuji  match may be.  This one could steal the show on a loaded card.

I really don't want to see Aires and Strong's Tag Title run come to an end, but I fear it will at the hands of Claudio and Hero.  This match should have a great atmosphere, though.

Joe and Homicide vs the Briscoes ought to be an interesting and potentially spectacular tag.  I have to wonder if the pairing of former bitter enemies in Joe and Cide will lead to a revival of that feud or if they'll get along.

Dragon vs KENTA.  Based on everything I've seen, this one ought to be a really good match, really good.

I'm also looking forward to seeing ROH in the Manhattan Center.  It was a bad ass venue when Raw was taped their regularly and New York is usually one of the hottest markets for ROH.

I doubt that very seriously... Aries isn't going to become ROH World Champion again and it's incredibly unlikely that KENTA would win the title either.

You guys never know. But I think Danielson will lose to Aries. Danielson won the title @ GBH 4, and I think he's just gonna pass it onto Aries. Probably not, because Aries is injured, but I'd like to see it.

Yup.  I thought the possibility of KENTA scoring a Summer of Punk (as in short, with several hot defenses in a short period of time, as KENTA has other obligations, not as in shocking heel turn) style win and reign was a lot more likely before the multi-draws, and its not like I was going to be putting money on KENTA before then anyways.

Its also going to be a long time before we see a 2-Time ROH champion, much less when a win would deflate the next night's heavily anticipated main event.  Especially when said main event is the Holy Land of wrestling, NYC .

If there's going to be a title change, it'll be Hero and Claudio over Aires and Strong.

I want a title change and this seems like the weekend for one. I could see Aries winning and then the next night him and KENTA put on MOTY.

Hey Gary.... Do you care if I post this thread over at GR also, or do you just want to do it.  Also you might want to check out GR when you can cause there's like 4 or 5 Morishima matches up right now. :D

Go ahead, CZW fan, the floor is your's. How is Bryan Danielson "over-rated"?

NWA Pro announces ROH Title Match for 9/30/06

Lodi, N.J.: NWA Pro officials are pleased to announce that this past week NWA officials and ROH representatives have come to terms to bring a Ring of Honor World Title Match to Bridgeport, CT on 9/30/06. After multiple 60 minute draws and a shoulder injury “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson is set to appear for NWA Pro on September 30. Danielson, who’s current reign as ROH champion has seen him face off against unusual challengers, should be tested like never before. Bryan’s open contract has been signed for a title defense and it has been signed by a man he has never faced before. On Saturday Night, September 30 for the first time ever in professional wrestling “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson will face KAMALA THE UGANDAN GIANT!!! This match-up is not like anything Bryan has seen in recent months as ROH World Champion. What will happen when perhaps the biggest clash of styles ever takes place for the ROH World Title? On Saturday night September 30th come see for yourself.

can Danielson beat Kamala? lol

August 31st: BJ Whitmer underwent ankle reconstruction surgery on Tuesday. Two ligaments were completely torn and needed to be reconstructed and a big piece of destroyed cartilage along with some bone chips were taken out of the ankle.

Whitmer will miss 12-16 weeks. The injury initially happened on 3/30 at "Dragon Gate Challenge" in that infamous fall from the ring to the floor against Jimmy Jacobs. Whitmer worked the entire CZW feud in pain and gutted out the injury while trying to keep things quiet. Jacobs finished the job on the ankle last Saturday in Chicago with a vicious attack that isolated the ankle. Now Whitmer will face tedious rehab before he can return, hopefully before the end of the year.

August 31st: "Glory By Honor V Weekend" just keeps getting bigger. We have a new main event quality match signed for 9/15 in East Windsor, CT. It will be a special challenge match as "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels takes on Nigel McGuinness!!! These two are both looking to climb to the top of the card and both need the win here. Get your tickets now at ROHwrestling.com or by calling 215-781-2500.

August 31st: The new ROH Video Recap will be up at ROHvideos.com tomorrow with lots of highlights from yet to be released shows, an exclusive promo with Jim Cornette and more.

August 31st: ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson will take this weekend and next weekend off to rest his shoulder for "Glory By Honor V Weekend." We will have a more complete update on Danielson next week.

August 31st: CM Punk is getting extreme and shining in the new ECW. Now you can see some of Punk's greatest matches as "Best Of CM Punk Vol. 3: The Legacy Continues" is now out at ROHwrestling.com. See Punk's famous match of the year battles against Samoa Joe, his violent feud against Jimmy Rave and more including matches vs. Roderick Strong and Alex Shelley. The Joe trilogy, steel cage action, a dog collar bloodbath and more are all here on this loaded DVD now at ROHwrestling.com. If you want to see what Punk is all about, this is a must see!!! Check ROHwrestling.com tomorrow for new FIP DVDs from last month and June. See the current FIP product including Bryan Danielson's great FIP Heavyweight Title reign. 6/9/06 "Chasing The Dragon" (Austin Aries vs. Roderick Strong vs. Colt Cabana vs. Davey Richards vs. Steve Madison vs. Canadian Cougar in an Elimination Match, Bryan Danielson vs. Sal Rinauro, Shingo Takagi vs. Erick Stevens), 7/8/06 "Heatstroke '06: Night 2" (Bryan Danielson & BJ Whitmer vs. Homicide & Davey Richards) and "Strength In Numbers" (Austin Aries vs. Sean Waltman, Bryan Danielson & Jimmy Rave vs. Roderick Strong & Tony Mamaluke) will all be available tomorrow at ROHwrestling.com for just $15 each!!! August 31st: Delirious will take Danielson's spot in FIP next weekend. It will be Davey Richards vs. Delirious on 9/8 in Inverness, FL. Check FullImpactPro.com for info.

August 31st: Don't forget you can also get tickets for many ROH events at Tickets.com.

August 31st: It all changes next week.

That is some rough luck for Whitmer.  He's been having a truly breakout year with the CZW feud and matches with Jacobs and looked to be a favorite for SOTF.  Hopefully, he'll come back better than ever and the crowds will still be responsive to him.

I think I would look at myself in disgust. But yeah, I'll keep that in mind for my brother who's coming along.

take toilet paper for Rave and black streamers for KENTA & Marufuji. DON'T throw the streamers until they are introduced in the ring.

Yeah, he puts his head down in shame whenever the streamers are thrown at their entrances.

Anyone going to Battle of LA tonight in PWG? Looks awesome from my standpoint. The only problem is that PWG's matches are usually about 10 minutes each as opposed to the 20-40 minute matches we see more regularly.

Wow, the original one was ridiculously better than that one.

EDIT:  Also, do Delirious's promos ever sound eerily similar to the Ultimate Warrior's, gibberish and all to anyone else?

Applebutter and bowling balls. Delirious's promos are just plain gibberish, but entertaining gibberish. Warrior's promos were pseudo-intellectual tangents built upon tangents that miraculously sold tickets.

update from Bryan Danielson's blog

Saturday, September 02, 2006

Shoulder update

After separating my shoulder this weekend, I was finally able to get an MRI done on Thursday. I have two tears, one is a partial tear of the supraspinatus tendon, and the other is a small anterior labral tear. What this means, exactly, I don't know. The MRI lady (Julie, who was very helpful) isn't allowed to say anything to me because it's not her area of expertise. Julie told me before the MRI that they would probably be able to get me in to see a doctor the next day, unless I needed surgery, which would mean I probably wouldn't be able to see a surgeon until next week. They scheduled me to meet with a surgeon on Wednesday. I took that as a bad sign, but could just be me being paranoid. Anyhow, thanks to all the people who sent me get well soon messages; it is much appreciated.

On a brighter note, I have my first weekend off in a long time, and am enjoying the wonderful rainy weather here in Philadelphia. Despite the shoulder nonsense, I'm looking forward to having a great labor day weekend.

If he gets sidelined for 9/16, i don't know what i'll do. The card looks awesome from top to bottom, but that match in particular is the draw for me. I haven't felt this frusturated since Low-Ki cancelled all his bookings just a week before Strong/Ki at 2/11.

Same way for me at 9/15, though Joe/Strong should be good along with the tag match and Daniels/McGuiness match. I really want to see Aries/Dragon though.

Well this gives me even more reason to believe that either KENTA or Aries is winning the title.

Dragon will keep working and drop the belt to Homicide or Cabana before taking a break.  I'm thinking that Homicide is the one who'll definitely win the title, seeing as how he's against ROH and that's the last thing Cornette would want, plus that would escalate the feud even more.

September 5th: A huge match has been signed for ROH's return to Philadelphia on 11/4 at the PA National Guard Armory. At the last Philadelphia event Homicide said he wanted a singles match against Steve Corino and now he has it. You will see Homicide vs. Steve Corino on 11/4 in Philly. These two have been rivals since 2002 and now they will settle things in Philly. The stipulation of this match will be announced in the upcoming weeks. Go to ROHwrestling.com or call 215-781-2500 for info.

September 5th: Make sure to check out ROHvideos.com for the new ROH Video Recap featuring an exclusive promo with Jim Cornette. There is also a new Welcome Video at ROHvideos.com. Check them both out for free!!!

September 5th: We have the entire field for "Survival Of The Fittest" on 10/6 in Cleveland, OH. BJ Whitmer is now out of the tournament due to his ankle surgury. The 12 participants are now: ROH World Champion and the first SOTF winner Bryan Danielson, last year's SOTF winner and ROH World Tag Team Champion Roderick Strong, the man who has been in the final two of both SOTF and ROH World Tag Team Champion Austin Aries, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, Jimmy Jacobs, Davey Richards, Jimmy Rave, Matt Sydal, Delirious, Colt Cabana and a graduate from the ROH Wrestling School. These 12 men will compete in six single matches in the first half of the show. The main event will see the winners compete in a Six Man Elimination Match. The winner will get a future ROH World Title shot. The epic rematch of Danielson vs. Joe has already been signed for the first round. We will have much more news this week right here in the ROHwrestling.com Newswire.

September 5th: Jay & Mark Briscoe are getting ready for a huge weekend at "Glory By Honor V" on 9/15 in East Windsor, CT and 9/16 in Manhattan with the huge debut at The Manhattan Center. The Briscoes are looking to be known as the best tag team in wrestling and they have been backing up their claim with incredible matches. They will be faced with four of the best going today on "Glory By Honor V Weekend." It will be an international dream match in East Windsor as The Briscoes take on NOAH's KENTA & Naomichi Marufuji. The Briscoes have jumped KENTA on recent shows and now KENTA is bringing his regular partner, Marufuji, to ROH to try to get some revenge. Manhattan will see a heated grudge match as The Briscoes take on the unique team of Brooklyn's own Homicide & Samoa Joe. This will be the first time that Joe & Homicide have ever teamed. Do we really need to give these matches any hype? Tickets are now on sale for both events.

September 5th: There are five new FIP DVDs now at ROHwrestling.com including recent shows from just a few weeks ago. 6/9/06 "Chasing The Dragon" (Davey Richards vs. Colt Cabana vs. Austin Aries vs. Roderick Strong vs. Canadian Cougar vs. Steve Madison in a Six Man Elimination Match, Bryan Danielson vs. Sal Rinauro, Shingo Takagi vs. Erick Stevens), 6/10/06 "Impact Of Honor" (Bryan Danielson vs. Colt Cabana, Austin Aries & Roderick Strong vs. Jerrelle Clark & Jay Fury, Davey Richards vs. Shingo Takagi), 7/7/06 "Heatstroke '06: Night 1" (Bryan Danielson vs. Colt Cabana, Davey Richards vs. BJ Whitmer, Homicide vs. Shingo Takagi), 7/8/06 "Heatstroke '06: Night 2" (Bryan Danielson & BJ Whitmer vs. Homicide & Davey Richards) and 11/11/05 "Strength In Numbers" (Bryan Danielson & Jimmy Rave vs. Roderick Strong & Tony Mamaluke, Austin Aries vs. Sean Waltman) are now all available at ROHwrestling.com for just $15 each. Also out now is the latest from 1PW, IWC and UWF-TNA including "Hardcore War" from Philadelphia featuring Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels. Check the New Releases section of ROHwrestling.com for the complete list.

September 5th: The Pure Title might be retired, but ROH will keep the Pure Title rules for gimmick matches. If two technical wrestlers are in the middle of a rivalry they can settle their feud in a Pure Rules Match!!!

September 5th: Former Pure Champion Nigel McGuinness is not discouraged after losing the belt in Liverpool. McGuinness is training harder than ever in preparation for his match against Naomichi Marufuji on 9/16 in Manhattan. McGuinness, who is a regular in NOAH, sees this as the biggest match of his life. A win here would raise his prestige in both ROH and NOAH. Something to keep an eye on is that Marufuji is receiving a GHC Heavyweight Title Match this weekend against Jun Akiyama in Japan. This is Marufuji's shot at the most important title in Japan. We will report on this match next week in the ROHwrestling.com Newswire.

September 5th: We will have an update on ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson's shoulder injury later this week.

I'm guessing that they are waiting until they know more about Danielson's status.  If he can't go, I wouldn't be surprised if significant changes were made.

September 6th: You all know by now that legendary hall-of-famer Bruno Sammartino will be at the ROH event on 9/16 in Manhattan when ROH debuts at the Manhattan Center. Sammartino will be available to meet the fans. This is sure to be a special night as the Manhattan Center is in the shadows of Madison Square Garden, where Sammartino had some of his most famous matches. There is something special about Sammartino in Midtown Manhattan. There is now only one question. What will Sammartino do on the live ROH event? Will he step foot in a ROH ring? If he does what will be the capacity? We will have the answer later this week or early next week right here in the ROHwrestling.com Newswire.

September 6th: "Glory By Honor V Weekend" will almost have a convention like atmosphere. NOAH stars Takeshi Morishima, Muhammad Yone and Takashi Sugiura will be in both East Windsor and Manhattan and available for autographs although they will not be wrestling. It is no secret that ROH officials want to book Morishima. It will be interesting to see what happens when Morishima first steps into a ROH building next weekend.

September 6th: There are several huge matches set for "Glory By Honor V Weekend." The talk in the ROH office is which match will steal the weekend. A lot of the talk around that is centering around the first ever singles match in ROH between Samoa Joe and Roderick Strong. These two fought in two brutal, hard-hitting bouts in FIP in January of 2005. Now they will finally collide one-on-one in ROH as it will be Joe vs. Strong on 9/15 in East Windsor. Joe is coming into this match ready to dish out a beating. Strong scored the upset and handed Joe only his second pinfall loss of 2006 in ROH on 8/25 in St. Paul. Strong pinned Joe soundly following a flurry that ended in the Gibson Driver. Now Joe wants to prove that it will never happen again. These two are ready to tear down the house on 9/15 in East Windsor.

September 6th: Several big matches will be signed soon for ROH's return to Detroit on 10/7. ROH World Tag Team Champions Austin Aries & Roderick Strong will put the belts on the line. The current talent roster has: ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson; ROH Tag Team Champions Austin Aries & Roderick Strong; Jay & Mark Briscoe; Samoa Joe; Christopher Daniels; Homicide; The Embassy featuring Jimmy Rave; Claudio Castagnoli; Matt Sydal; Delirious; Jimmy Jacobs; Colt Cabana; Irish Airborne and more to be added. Most of the big matches for this event will be signed after the happenings of 9/15 and 9/16. You can rest assured that ROH will bring some huge matches to Detroit on October 7th. There are still great seats available now at ROHwrestling.com or by calling 215-781-2500.

September 6th: Have you checked out Straight Shootin' With Jim Cornette & JJ Dillon yet? There are now a lot of great non-ROH releases at ROHwrestling.com with some unique and big match ups including five new DVDs from FIP. Go to the New Releases section of ROHwrestling.com for the following DVDs: IWC "Uncaged Fury" (Christopher Daniels vs. Delirious, Low Ki vs. John McChesney); IWC "No Excuses 2" (AJ STYLES vs. CHRISTIAN CAGE, Double Cage War Games Match); 1PW "Fight Club 2" (Steve Corino vs. Doug Williams 2/3 Falls, Teddy Hart vs. Pac); MXPW "Lords Of The Ring Tag Team Tournament" (Eight team tourney with Briscoes, Low Ki & Homicide, SAT, Black Market & more); UWF-TNA "Monster's Ball" (Samoa Joe vs. Rhino vs. Abyss in a Monster's Ball Match, AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels vs. AMW); UWF-TNA "Hardcore War" (Samoa Joe vs. Christopher Daniels vs. AJ Styles, chair riot in the former ECW Arena); UWF-TNA "Campus Invasion: Night 2" (Samoa Joe vs. Christian Cage, AJ Styles vs. Jeff Hardy); the famous King Of The Death Match Tournament from the late 90s in Japan with Cactus Jack, Terry Funk and others; plus more from UWF-TNA, "History Of WWE Championship" 3 disc set, Christy Hemme Shoot Interview, "Knockouts: The Ladies Of TNA Vol. 1," "Japanese Hardcore Wrestling Vol. 3" and much, much more in the new releases section of ROHwrestling.com.

September 6th: Steve Corino will make his return to the Boston area on 11/3 when ROH finally returns to Braintree, MA.

September 6th: Full Impact Pro is getting ready to celebrate its second birthday this weekend when it hits its two hottest towns. "Second Year Spectacular: Night 1" this Friday in Inverness, FL will see Davey Richards vs. Delirious, Jay Briscoe vs. Jerrelle Clark and a Six Man War of Roderick Strong, Erick Stevens & Seth Delay vs. The YRR of Steve Madison, Chasyn Rance & Kenny King. Night two in Crystal River, FL will have Roderick Strong vs. Delirious, Erick Stevens vs. Steve Madison and a Mixed Grudge Match for the FIP Tag Team Titles as Black Market & Allison Danger defend against The Heartbreak Express & So Cal Val's mystery female assassin. There is much more on this weekend including the debut of the mysterious Cyber Kong. There will be tickets available at the door on both nights. Check FullImpactPro.com for all the info.

September 6th: The big change is coming soon and it is all thanks to you!!!

September 6th: We will have an update on ROH World Champion & FIP Heavyweight Champion Bryan Danielson shoulder injury in the next ROHwrestling.com Newswire.
