Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

It's being reported that WWE Smackdown star Kane is expected to receive a huge push in the coming weeks. One source within WWE says Vince McMahon was extremely pleased with his promo on Smackdown and the reaction he received. Although there were rumors regarding Kane's disinterest in winning the world title, apparently those rumors were false and Kane himself denied the claims.

That promo was excellent. Stupid coma storyline aside, if Kane keeps this up, I'm all for another heel Kane monster run. I could see him and Rey working together very well

My dreams may finally come true and Kane gets to hold a real title.....(not the ECW one)........Wow. After all of these years as an upper card jobber. Strangely, I will believe it when I see it. Every time I see Kane push I think of Katie Vick and Kane-Taker 2. Some very low points.

When you say Kane/Taker 2, do you mean when Kane was squashed at WM when Taker came back as ABA Taker?

I was there for his promo in person, and it was really intense. The promo itself was pretty dumb but the passion was definitely there.

Cannot say as if I am positive on that move.

Sure, Kane's promo was all sorts of great, but when the WWE needs to be pushing young stars more than ever, do they really need to be putting their time and engery into a guy who is 43 years old and past his prime?

Plus, if this means a Kane-Taker feud, does the world really need to see to another match from these two?

I mean the horrible build up and subsequent squash match. It made Kane look like a joke character. I would love to see something new out of Kane. I think they have missed the boat on him so many times in his career.

We'll see. Maybe they can do it right like they should have in 2003. At least Shane McMahon, Triple H and Goldberg are nowhere to be seen. More likely, though, it'll be pointless. They build Kane up, Taker tears him down.

I used to think that a dedicated push to Kane would work if it were serious, but I've backed off of that over the past couple of years as I can't recall a Kane match that clears three stars and the things he has done have been so inconsequential.

It'll take me time to warm up to this, if it occurs. It is going to take a whole lot to convince me that, no matter what they do, that I don't know how this story ends.

So basically, Kane replaces Taker until Taker returns, probably "surprises" everyone by being the guy that put Taker in a coma, gets his head kicked in, and eventually realigns with Taker and becomes the BROTHERS OF DESTRUCTION again? Hmm... sounds kinda familiar.

Oh well, Kane with a title would be pretty cool. I've been a huge fan of Kane for years, despite the fact he's become a joke and a jobber.

I thought most of the people here hated it? It's nice to see I was mistaken, at least partially. I didn't get to see half of Smackdown, but I thought he did well. I've been wanting Kane to be pushed for a LONG time as well. However, I'm sorry to say though that if Kane is turned into a heel for this, it will probably be a push for nothing. They ALWAYS ruin him when they turn him heel, and he ends up being buried by the Undertaker.

If they turn him heel, I have a feeling they'll end up fighting eachother again, having the story line culminate with the two facing eachother because "Kane was the one who really did it." I hope they don't cheap out and do that, but similar things have happened. If they make him into a heel that actually does something besides run away, and turn him into AN ACTUAL MONSTER that can take a hit like he used to...then *thumbs up*.

I would like to see something along the lines of whoever Kane challenges for the championship be the one who did it. Title match happens, ding and the lights go out after the champs finisher, Kane gets new life and chokeslams for the pin. Hell, they could make it into a triple threat match for the belt.

As much as the Kane mark inside me is gleeful of even the notion of a big push for him, they really have chosen a bad time to do this; that being after they have spent the last few years making him look like the pansiest big guy the WWE has ever seen. And, as The_Dude said, he's pretty past his prime.

But I'm still pretty excited, I hope it happens, but really, I'll believe it when I see it.

I don't think it's anyone's place but his, to decide what he can or can't do if he's given the chance. He's done well thus far. While he is not held in the same regards as these names, keep in mind that Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker were considered by many to be long past their prime years ago. Look at what they achieved, and they had to start somewhere. Triple H still puts on a good show every now and then too.

This will probably be laughed at but Kane can actually do a lot of the same things The Undertaker can, while seemingly being less injury prone. Do I think that he'll reach the same level as Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker? No, but he still has potential that shouldn't be downed so much at a whim. I noticed on RAW though, that they're making him kind of silly already...questioning everyone...it's stupid. I like how he scared Shaemus though.

Seriously, can you or anyone tell me the last time Kane had a really good match? I'm not even looking for a match that I think is really good, I'm looking for a match that anyone thinks is really good. Just give me a Kane match that was worth remembering.

But don't feed me the opportunities bull****. Kane and Taker have wrestled Edge approximately the same number of times, ranging somewhere in upper thousands and the worst Edge-Taker is about two stars better than the best Kane-Edge. Kane has wrestled Shawn Michaels, he's wrestled Rey Mysterio, he's been the ECW Champion. The ECW title has been a platform for the likes of CM Punk, John Morrison, Matt Hardy, Jack Swagger, Big Show and MARK HENRY to have good matches. Christian had a bunch of really good matches against NOTHING.

I WANT to be proven wrong. Believe it or not, I actually am a long-time fan of Kane. I want him to come out tomorrow and wrestle a really good match, but I haven't seen it.

You know as well as I do that, that is mostly due to poor script writing in and out of the ring and not his actual abilities or inabilities. He could have done the same reversal into a Tombstone this past Monday as Taker did at Wrestlemania 25. It would have awed many people, but instead they just make him "normal."

If Kane is to succeed at this, they have to actually set him apart as they did for Taker. If Kane takes it and goes with it, great. If he fails, then at least he was finally given the chance. I do NOT think he would fail if he were given a similar level of event scripting that The Undertaker gets though.

Kane is not the only one that poor match writing has hampered either. He needs to get into a bit better shape, but even in his current physical condition he could probably do lots of things reliably.

He had a really good match against Dolph Ziggler a while ago. He actually had three, but I only saw one, which was the one he won. It wasn't amazing but it was a really good TV match, off the top of my head the best match he's been in for a while.
