Discuss SD 2009. Pretty awesome Edge title run post Backlash with tons of great matches, Rey/Jericho stealing pretty much every show that spring/summer, Jeff/Punk being awesome, Morrison/Rey being TV MOTY, etc.

Seeing Jeff with the title threw my memory for a loop, I thought Punk was still the champ when he went full blown heel.

So it was Punk winning at Extreme Rules, being a weird tweener for a while against Hardy then Jeff winning the title at the next PPV, Punk going full blown heel after that then winning it back at Summerslam? What an awesome couple of months that was.

ER was early June, then late June was The Bash. Jeff won via DQ. I believe that was when Jeff hurt Punk's eye and Punk hit the ref. Then the next PPV was Night of Champions where Jeff won the title back.

There is a DVD

And it starts from October 2nd, 2009

Damn shame WWE didn't release one that covered the summer. I never buy DVDs but I would have bought a Smackdown Summer of 2009.

Oh well.

Ah, the Summer of Punk II

Good Times.

Going into Night of Champions, Punk was effectively heel because he had started pulling out the Straightedge card and trashing Jeff Hardy, but he never crossed the line and did anything overtly heelish until this. This is where he officially crossed the line... awesomely. I think only the original Nexus beatdown would top this as far as recent beatdowns goes.

Yeah, Smackdown during the Summer of 09 really hooked me back into wrestling. For a brief period of time, we got to see how good wrestling can be, restorations, even ever so briefly, of the IC and Tag Titles, good matches, good feuds... and it was all PG, too.

Who'da thunk that it would be the Undertaker who brought it all to a screeching halt?

Actually, I probably should have seen that coming.

Also, Punk-Hardy Cage Match > Morrison/Mysterio.

2009 was a good year in general. I dont really remember what was going on on Raw but Smackdown had Jericho/ Rey, Punk/ Hardy, Jerishow, and John Morrison getting pushed while ECW had Christians title run along with a bunch of great matches with people like Yoshi, shelton, and regal. It was pretty fun up until as Dude said the Undertaker came back.

I wonder why WWE doesn't have Seasonal DVDs. I feel that there's a market out there for it. How expensive could it be to release 15 episodes of one of their shows every 4 months?

HIAC doesn't count as one of those, right? I enjoy Cena-Orton matches, but their HIAC blew and, IMO, completely derailed that PPV.

Also, can we credit the rise of Dolph Ziggler to 2009, at least the beginning? His Summerslam match with Mysterio ruled and I enjoyed the matches in his program with Morrison.

Meh, not much worth remembering.

Rise to what, exactly? 10-minute title run? A new generic look?

That's what the Best of Raw and SmackDown BDs and DVDs are for.
