The Suicide character has now officially been put on hold due to Frankie Kazarian having surgery to repair his triceps. Due to the surgery he will likely be out until early 2009. The character was originally going to be debuting either with a run-in at Bound for Glory or shortly after.

Hopefully they will just scrap the idea and bring back Kaz as well...Kaz. Nothing good can come from that Suicide storyline.

Why can't they just run with the golden "The Future" gimmick he had on Velocity from 2005- a week later. That was mildly entertaining.

Wait a second, wait a second, wait a second, they were actually planning on doing a Suicide character? As in the Suicide from the TNA game? I thought Jackov was joking when he predicted that.

Nope, it has been rumor on the IWC for months now. Since before the release of said TNA video game.

So they can allow a guy to be called Suicide but they can't allow them to be called The Murder City Machine guns? Yay......

This is stupid. Its like Curryman. You are sacrificing a main event player for some stupid crap.

They are called The Motor City in TNA and not The Murder City.

Everywhere but TNA. Doesn't make much of a difference either way. Both are accurate descriptors of Detroit and as long as they wrestle the way they do, I don't much care what they're called, they're still awesome.

And as far as names go, it doesn't come close to touching the Sexy Machine Guns, the name for the team of Alex Shelley and Spanky over in Zero-One. Though, I'm not sure they ever actually got a chance to use that name.

But they wear armbands that say 1967 which is a direct reference to "The Murder City"

Not only that....

But the Detroit Lions are Murder lol. I feel sorry for any fan of that franchise.

If I remember right (and I might be wrong on my timing) but around the same time the Murder City Guns were teaming up on TNA TV, they were going to have a Bound for Glory in Detroit. So my guess is that they didn't want to go to Detroit and basically say "Haha! Your city has the highest Homicide rate in America!" So they probably just thought it would be distateful. I mean they have a game character called Suicide and wrestlers called Homicide and Mr. Killer-spelled-backwards, so I doubt TNA cares about naming characters after death unless they really feel that they're going to lose fans.

It wasn't until April 2007 that the team debuted in TNA, where hence they had been singles X Division wrestlers. After squaring off against each other in an Xscape match at the annual Lockdown pay-per-view they became regulars in the tag team division, first using the Murder City name, before it was switched to Motor City. The change seemed to be against their wishes, with Shelley stating that "Murder City" was the real name, and "Motor City" was the PG version.

I also remember Sabin talking about this with J.B on one of those interviews as well. I'll have to dig for it.

Zero-One?

Japanese promotion. Spanky, Alex Shelley and Steve Corino have all worked over there at one time or another. Spanky was instrumental in getting Shelley in Zero-One.

Because it'd be like not making a distinction between Triple H and Hunter Hearst Helmsley.

From character perspective? Or is this one of those deals where Indy Kendrick > Fed Kendrick, and referring to him as "Spany" is reflection of that?

Character perspective. THE Brian Kendrick is almost as different from Spanky as Triple H is from Hunter Hearst Helmsley. I was simply referring to him by what he was at the time. Definately not an Indy > Fed deal, because, IMO, THE Brian Kendrick is definately ">" Spanky

BTW, can anybody remember the last time Triple H was referred to as Hunter Hearst Helmsley or even Hunter? Closest I can come is Steph, and even that is years ago. Like there is a whole bunch of wrestling fans who probably have no idea what those three H's stand for.

It was an amusing thing looking up Summerslam results on WWE.com and seeing, in 96, I believe the result read Triple H defeats Hardcore Holly and thinking that someone would see that and try and track down that match and be in for a pretty big surprise.

For that matter, I would imagine for portion of fans out there, their first experience with DX was with that Mid-Life Crisis BS.

I didn't comment because you're exactly right and have nothing further to add. :)

As for Trips being referred to as "Hunter" it seems you have to have been in a stable to be able to call him Hunter. For instance the only people who are on a first name basis on TV with HHH are Shawn Michaels and Batista for some reason. I remember a promo from the HHH/Batista feud where Trips would call Batista "Dave" and Batista would call HHH "Hunter." :|

Possibly only if Triple H likes you. Orton would probably have to refer to him Mr. H.

And Flair could probably refer to him as Hunter, just chooses to call him the"greatest."

However, with Ric Flair, everyone and everything is the "greatest."
