I guess that Linda's board of ed career is more important then the wwe, so let's use the wwe to help Linda's new venture. It makes sense. Change the product that is global, to suit the needs of the career that is only in Connecticut. I totally get it! Makes sense ... if you work for wwe I guess.
I understand that they probably think that people will buy more merchandise, or order more ppvs if their kids ask for it, and that wwe thinks that if they revert back to just before they peaked, then maybe they can peak again. Right before the attitude era, it was marketed towards families, and tons of people became fans. That is only one factor though. By that logic, you will have to split wrestling back into small territories again, and then start all over. I understand they think that this will lead to another generation discovering wrestling, and growing up with the wwe in their lives, but you won't grow at all from that. You lose the current generation of fans, and get another generation, so you can only be just as good as you have been, no better. Probably not even that good, because the current generation that you have just pushed away are the parents of the children that you are trying to target, and they won't introduce their kids to wwe, so their goes that marketing to kids strategy.
Why not take the challenge and try to see what to do to keep (or to get back) the current and former fans, while new ones discover wwe? I think I know what made wwe so popular ... competition. After you burried WCW and ECW, wrestling declined. Let some competition develop, and compete. We need WCW (or something like it). WWE needs WCW (or something like it). TNA has kind of begun to quench that thirst, although not anywhere near as large as WCW, this is probably why people say TNA is WCW 2. Let me put it in wrestling terms. Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker is successful. Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart was successful. Shawn Michaels in a ring wrestling himself, I don't think is successful. He would have nothing to try to do better than, and he would not have anybody to push himself to try to be better than. I wouldn't really want to see Shawn Michaels vs Barry Horrowitz either. So my point is some other company has to get close to the level of WWE, and maybe the spark will ignite some creative juices to flow through WWE, and the new golden age can begin!
Anyone agree, disagree, have anything to add?
