A number of people in WWE weren't pleased with how Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson came off this past Saturday night. He did not leave a positive impression on a number of wrestlers at the Hall of Fame banquet.

A number of sources report that Johnson did not hang out with old friends before and after his speech at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. He showed up for the speech, delivered one that offended many in WWE and was believed to be too long, and then left.

Some of his former colleagues are saying that Johnson came across as "aloof" and "totally Hollywood," as if he were "above WWE now," not to mention everyone in WWE as well. One of those people include one-time friend Steve Austin, who was openly displeased and taken aback by Johnson's demeanor.

Here is one wrestler's comments regarding Johnson's Hall of Fame speech: "This wasn't a roast. This was supposed to be a tribute to his dad and grandfather. Instead, he did an hour plus of comedy, running way long, then did a short tribute to his dad and grandfather, then left. It was rude of him."

WWE had plans to control the length of the Hall of Fame speeches, but the induction ceremony ran way over the planned length in large part due to Johnson's drawn out speech. Flair's Hall of Fame speech ran long as well, but everyone was forgiving of that considering that it was his night.

After the event, pretty much everyone backstage shared in their resentment and disappointment on Johnson's conduct at the Hall of Fame. The belief backstage was that Johnson had no reason to treat old friends like discards from a past life.

Johnson's speech went on first because he had to catch a plane immediately to Las Vegas, where they are filming his latest movie, Space Mountain. After he left, two individuals took shots at him during their Hall of Fame speeches. When praising John Cena, Ric Flair made a point to say that Cena, "Will never leave our business for Hollywood." Triple H mentioned, "Rock fans," and then said, "Oops, am I supposed to say Dwayne fans now?"

Haven't watched WrestleMania yet, but just by reading that article, my liking of Rock is getting lower and lower. Is this how "rude" he really is nowadays? He was my one of favorite WWE wrestlers.

I'm now glad he didn't come to the 15th Anniversary of RAW. He would have ruined it.

While yes, I don't like this either, you guys are overreacting. Rock didn't go to Wrestlemania because he is filming a movie right now. He was lucky he could even go to the HOF ceremony. He blew off Josh Matthews because that's what The Rock does. He's ALWAYS treated those backstage interviewers like s*** (poor, poor Kevin Kelly, or whatever his name was). It's part of his character. And while I don't like his speech and how he did it (too much comedy instead of honoring his father and grandfather and going too long) and I don't like at all the way he acted (IF the reports are true. It's not like these are always right) but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want him to show up again at some point hopefully with a better attitude. I don't approve of this at all and this just further lowers my opinion of The Rock as I was already saying some of this stuff about him before but there could have been an explanation for it or something or it might not have been true. Who knows.

Probably was though but let's not overreact here.

i actually also thought it was funny as hell. this doesnt get me too anrgy except the fact that he didnt care to greet his former wrestlers or act like he really cared, also with that interviewer guy, maybe that was going a little too far.

Because the point of the speech wasn't to be The Rock or to be funny. It was to honor his father and grandfather. Also he apparently went way too long which is a no-no. Flair did too I think but hey, it's his night so that's alright.

As for rocky insulting people, thats inevitable and very expected but he did not have to take so long or at least spend more time praising his fater and grandfather

R's Blog

http://www.jrsbarbq.com/2008/04/02/371/

"The Rock arrived in Orlando late Friday night after working during the day in LA and then came to the Amway Arena late Saturday afternoon after preparing to do two speeches at the HOF Ceremony. I spoke to Rock at length back stage, as did my wife, and he was his usual happy, friendly self and thanked us for all the J.R.'s products he has received and he said he loves our sauces and thanks that our peanuts are a great idea, which was nice to hear. He also is the owner of an "I've Got Big Nuts" T-shirt from our place. The Rock may have gone long on his speech to many, as he had lots of ground to cover and our fans can be the judge of that when they watch the unedited DVD. I enjoyed our visit and his presentation. I can also see sitting in the audience for several hours without a break, being a challenge, nature does call occasionally . The Rock stayed as long as he could after his presentation and then had to fly back to work where he was back on the set Sunday. Word going around the Internet is that Rock was aloof to many, is hard for me to buy into. I did not personally see that."

Personally i loved the rocks jokes, the two that stood out for me were:

1. One on Chris Jericho: ROCK:You still talk about the night you beat me and Stone Cold. It's better than talking about your new hairstile that makes you look like a 12 year old!" And Jericho stood up, as if he actually wanted to beat the living cr*p outta rock.

2. The Marine joke: ROCK I dont know if you heard, but WWE got into trouble recently for abusing soldiers in Iraq. They tied up the soldiers to a chair, and made them watch the marine!

Cena's responce:
