Soul Caliber 2 is easily the best fighting game (amazing fluidity great charactors weapons, graphics, its got everything)on xbox followed by Dead or Alive series which is also good. Soul Caliber FTW!;)
DOA and SC are gre4at games for for a good 2D, fighting romp a thon might I suggest Marvel vs Capcom 2 ... admittidly not a perfect arcade port but for a no nonsence, SF meets Marvel with over the top moves kinda game I really enjoy it.
