It's probably most similar to Deus Ex :P

It's a hybrid shooter/RPG, though some of the more obvious RPG elements have been scaled back or gotten rid of with the sequel. In the first game, for instance, you accumulated skill points like you would xp and you could invest those into various skills. In Invisible War, some of the better skills are rolled into the bio-mod system, like hacking.

The game gives you a lot of choice, though not always effectively. You'll usually get a number of ways to handle the various obstacles you come across.

Anyway, a lot of folks disliked the game. A lot of those folks were people who loved the origina and were letdown by this game because of the changes and various technical/design limitations. I enjoyed it, though I have some issues with the game. It's worth checking out, though you'll probably enjoy it more knowing what the game is going to be like up front. I've known some people who were extremely disappointed with both Deus Ex games, but they were generally expecting something more action packed.

Good post. The action part of the game is severely underdeveloped. Shooting enemies isn't location based and the weapon-enemy interaction is very weak. It feels almost like attacking someone in an rpg rather than a shooter.

However the gameworld is great, with lots of different ways to get everywhere (sneaking through vents, blasting through a window, killing the guards and going through the main door, finding a back entrance, etc. etc.) and the atmosphere is truly thick!

I loved the game for what it was. It wasn't a cop of Deus Ex 1 but it was certainly not the dumbing-down fest Deus Ex fans made it to be. I can recommend it as an excellent game if you want more thn a quick action fix.

I think its almost the same. Its mainly a matter of preferece.

I played as the girl and I liked how they made her a regular woman with regular clothing and a not too attractive appearance. The male, with the spikey hair and the barbie Ken look felt like a stereotypical videogame male to me, but the girl was unique and great.

The game is definately worth playing at least twice anyway though, because of all the different courses you can go. E.g. help the religious folks, help the military folks, kill someone, spare someone, etc.etc. So if you play it the second time, you might as well switch your gender too.

Ouff. I don't know. I don't watch the time it takes me to finish a game so unless there is a counter in the menu somewhere I don't know how long it took (and there is no counter in Deus Ex IW). But my guess would be around 20 hours, maybe a bit more maybe a bit less. It didn't strike me as particulary short if that's what you are worrying about.
