With the 360 out now and the Xbox fadeing away do you think theyll make it free?

Prolly not, but you do have a good idea there... But I think in making it free, it would leave the stragglers who didnt pick up the 360 straggle even more.

They should stop charging to use XBL...

You're right they shouldn't charge for XBL but u know Microsoft likes to win a lil bit more money lol

MS wants to milk everyone of their money despite the fact that original XBL is a no-go for most xbox users.  besides that.....most of the people using original XBL have probably moved on to the newer XBL for 360 anyway.  regardless, chances are that original xbl will have a fee.

The day MS stops charging to use XBL with the original xbox is the day they no longer support it.

didnt quite explained myself. xbl is the same thing pretty much, just with more features. i dont see it being free, and i hope it never is.

There already IS a FREE Xbox Live service. It is called Xbox Live Silver. It just doesn't do anything for Original Xbox owners.

Xbox Live Gold is what equates to the Xbox Live service that existed before the 360 came out, i.e. the service that let you play games against other people.

It doesn't matter whether you have an Xbox 360 or an Original Xbox. There is no "Original Xbox Live". Go down to Best Buy -- all you will find are cards for "Xbox Live Gold" subscriptions. They work on your Original Xbox.

Sure, on your Original Xbox, you don't get to blow money and points in the Marketplace, etc., but, point is, if you want to play Halo 2 matchmaking, you need Xbox Live Gold, and you're going to pay for it.

It would be cool if they would let you download content and patches from xbox live without having to pay for it. Or at least create some sort of verified installer for every patch on xbox live so people without live can download them, burn them onto a cd and copy it to the xbox's hadd from there. Just like the Halo 2 mappack.
