Larry is fun as long as he is in conversations with other characters or checking them out while commenting on them. It stops being fun when you have to do cheap dated minigames in my opinion.
Most great games have already been named, but I'd like to add Unreal Championship 2 to the list because I had endless hours of fun with it (and still have). Also Ninja Gaiden Black is a MUST HAVE. There is no other way to put it. If you can at least stand action adventure games with a heavy focus on combat you should LOVE this game.
Other must-have titles are Burnout 3 and Revenge, but you probably played them on the ps2 already.
As a direct competitor to Grand Turismo Fozra Motorsports might interest you. Its an excellent game and even more realistic than GT in some aspects although the value is lower (less tracks, less cars). A bit more on the arcadey side but by too much is PGR2 another excellent racing game with a LOT of value. As its relatively easy to pick up and play (more so than Forza or GT) its also great to have if you have friends to play with who aren't experts in racing simulators.
If you like realistic driving games and you liked WRC on the ps2 you might also like Richard Burns Rally, which is an excellent rallye simulation.
If you haven't played them elsewere already (e.g. on the pc) by all means get the Brothers in Arms games if you have the slightest itnerest in ww2. They are NOT realistic in anything but the story and the looks, but they offer a fun tactical experience and very immersive thrilling ride.
Oh, and James Bond Everything or Nothing was surprisingly awesome in my opinion. If you don't know it already, do yourself a favor and check it out. If you are a Bond fan you should love it. If you are an action adventure fan you should love it, and if you are both, well, what are you waiting for?
