Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike question

You can select your appearance in your singleplayer profile. Somewhere you can chose between three different appearances. You don't really chose the shown appearance though, but instead you chose the first, the second, or the third appearance.

Whenever you create a co-op game you can change a bunch of options and, among those, the uniforms your ghosts should use in this mission. You can only chose sets of three uniforms and sometimes a girl is among them. Out of those three in the set, you get the number you chose in your proofile. So, say you chose the one on the right in your profile, you get the one on the right in the chosen uniform set. The one on the right is sometimes the female sniper of the ghosts in various uniforms, so when choseing the right (third, counting from left to right) appearance, and choseing a uniform set that contains a girl, you get to play as her.

The difference is only cosmetical though. She doesn't shoot better or park in worse or something... 

Not to barge in on some discussion, but if you play against each other or play in Live, picking the little sniper-girl actually can save your ass... She's a bit smaller than the others and thus easier to hide and harder to see. I don't know if it helps anything in open firefights, but I've seen the hiding part in action and it actually does help :D

And just so you know, the appearances might change after you have chosen the girl, or boy or whatever, so that when you enter the battle you aren't the alternative you chose, it's a little bug that has been annoying me for a while.
