Playing through the (offline) campaign modes of Halo and Halo 2, as well as KOTOR and other games, is going to net you many many hours of entertainment. You could justify it on the entertainment cost per hour, and it's likely to come out well below going out to the movies. You probably should not expect to get a lot of mileage out of Xbox Live at this point -- Halo 2 and Star Wars Battlefront 2 do still have activity, as do some others, but the heyday for that is over. If you have some friends or family that you would be meeting up with via Live, then that (approx $55/yr subscription) could be invaluable. But I am still using my Original Xbox, and still have a few games on my wish list that I want to play through, each being a 10-20 hour game. I personally have not seen enough games available for the 360 that interest me enough to justify the expense just yet.

I just recently spent about $500 on around 80-90 games, 3 reg controllers, 2 WL ones, HD cables, etc. I think thats a way better deal then spending $500 on a 360 with a game and extra controller or $500-600 on a PS3 with nothing. I own a 360 also BTW and its awesome. But I now have enough Xbox games to last me for years.

You should probably go to a game store that sells used ones, I got a used Xbox for about 130 bucks thats pretty good, and ya know what.

The Xbox had a GT on it by the person who had it earlier so what kind of bargain is that eh? THen I realized that the acc was actually a friends from my town. Ironically he canceled it.

Forget the off-topicness

Yes, plus now is the time to build a solid XBOBX library as stores are liquidating their last-generation stock. Do some research on the web if you are going the used route and make sure you do not get an XBOX with a Thompson drive. (Here's a link on how to tell).

If you don't want to research it I guess you'll have to take my word for it, don't buy an XB with a Thompson drive, the picture in that link shows you how to indentify.  The TD was the first drive MS used the the XB.  They have a higher disc-read error rate than the other types of drive.

I wouldn't buy it now. Xbox isn't getting anymore games, get a PS2 or get the 360 even though it costs more.

I have a ps2 already. But depending on how much money i get from my b-day will decide whether a 360 or regular.

well, if you buy an xbox now, it'd be kinda hard to get some of those really old xbox games but are super fun, i'd say just save up for a 360
