Before you do anything I would go over the list of XBOX games that the 360 play so you make sure you have a working library on the next console. Microsoft has disappointed many with their lack of fully backing the XBOX titles.
If you don't need it anymore you wont make more money anywhere then donating it at a hospital.

I've also noticed that some of the games that are compatible sometimes suffer from slowdowns, and those I still play on my xbox
The value of an Xbox to EB Games and Gamestop is $25 to $75. Barely nothing. As for the games, you are lucky if you can get $5 for one of them.
I think what EB Games and Gamestop do is take the consoles, and sell the parts of them for a higher price to other companies. They give you little for the console, but they pocket a big profit from selling the parts.
