If you're looking for a brand new one, good luck. They stopped production of new Xbox consoles in Spring '06.
If you're willing to buy a used one, check Gamestop or Game Crazy, they sell them for $80. I know if you buy it from Game Crazy, they'll give a coupon sheet for game rentals for a year(1 per a month).
go 360. worth every penny to make the jumpBlindEffekt
Not if you own 50 Xbox games that are not BC on the 360. For us that have those problems, we're stuck playing the original Xbox because Microsoft can't get the emulation software right.

if you own 50 xbox games, clearly however much a 360 is now wont be a problem for you. unless youv already sold everything u own to aquire those 50 gamesif you own 50 xbox games, clearly however much a 360 is now wont be a problem for you. unless youv already sold everything u own to aquire those 50 gamesBlindEffekt
Not the point. The point is if he's got games that are not BC, it's worth buying a replacement Xbox.
Sidenote- yeah, I own quite a few games that are not BC. But did I buy all of those at once? No, I spent over 3 years acquiring those. I don't want to throw the money I spent down the drain because MS can't get all of them to play on the 360. Still, even for the Arcade version, the 360 is too expensive for me. I waited until the Xbox dropped to $200 to buy it. Since then, I've grown up and now have to deal with a lot more than games, like making sure I pay rent & keep the electric on.
i understand that. but if you have 50 games i think you would get a decient trade in value from your local game stop or eb games if you really wanted to move to a 360. and honestly do you really play all 50 of those games? i beat a game and im done with it and trade em in for store credit.
but to answer the original Q. go for it. a pawn shop should be selling em for about 50$ or so, no more than 70$. or you could try a game stop or eb games-i bet there almost willing to give em away lol. oh yeeah and theres always eBay
