The reason why I was thinking of buying it was because of its game roster.

The reason why I don't want to buy a 360 is because of two main reasons. One, it cost a whole lot, and the 360's are known to break down quite easily.

One last thing, if you bought a used XBOX, how is it's current status right now? Is it working?

Thanks!

While i still think you should get a 360, the origional is still a good system to have. Its status right now to most ppl is that its diying, but  i still think that its alive and going good. One of the nice thing about it is that there are so many games to choose from and you should have no problem finding a game that you like.

yooooo.

i disagree. do NOT get an old xbox, i have to say i have a launch 360 and nothing has happened to it at all.ever.

one of my friend's broke because he dropped it ten feet, go figure, and all he had to do was replace the DVD drive.

you will regret getting the old one. trust me

I called them up couple of days ago and asked about the warranty. They told me 30 days.

But, how durable are XBOX's?

well unless you are throwing it against the wall, its pretty durrable and wont break if you step on it our anything. After a few years it will get slow, but that just means that you have to open it up and cleen all the dust out. I've had mine for four years and its had a couple hard bangs here and there but it is still in good condition.

Fudge no! If you don't have a PS2 and Gamecube, then get it if you really want it. Get a PS2 or Gamecube first. Those both have more games, and more of a variety.

ya, the console is good cuz you can play music, watch dvd's and if you get the HD cord you can play games in high def. so ya, the consol itself is good.

Well the first thing you might want to think about getting Halo 1 and 2 because those are a must have for the xbox. Then if you want a racer game, think about one of the burnout games of PGR. If you want a good RPG or MMO than you have to get Knights of the old repiblic. Some other good FPS games all call of duty and brothers in arms. I hope that answers your question.

well itshard to tell by looking at the outside. But if there are any major dents or if it has marks all over it then you should ask for another one. BUt if you are allowed to look inside which i dont think you can, but if you are than just take a quick look at the disk drive and see if it has any visible damage.

Personally, I would recommend saving up for the 360. But if you are going to buy an Xbox, I would try if at all possible to find a new one. I'm sure a used one would work fine, but there's always a chance that it's been softmodded. Even after taking a softmod off, there are still some files from the softmod on the xbox's hd. So your taking a risk with used hardware.

You might want to think about getting a couple of controlers, a DVD remote and a memory card.

I don't like getting used games at EB because they work like half the time. I would definitely not get a used Xbox. "Refurbished" is a bs term which means they whiped the dust off the system and put it in a box to sell.

Xbox's tend to crap out after a while and not play some games mine has, I would not buy an xbox now just save for a 360 you can play pretty much all the games worth getting for xbox on a 360.

Aside from the dust and cleaner smell it has been one of my best purchases.

FYI you have got a 8 or 10 GB HDD inside of that baby.

Have Fun, i know i am!!!

Damn, I'm hoping I'm not too late with this reply. I just wanted to point out that when you bring the Xbox home, be sure to check what kind of DVD drive you got in it.

The Xbox's drives were provided by 3 different manufacturers over it's life span, and unfortunetely some were better than others.

The main thing to watch out for are the drives provided from a wonderful (not) company called "Thomson". Those drives have been known to have very short life spans and are just all around pieces of junk. Mine only lasted a year after purchase with only moderate use.

The Samsung drive is by far the best one and I would have no worries about buying a used Xbox with this drive in it.

Click Here to find out how to tell which Xbox drive you have.

I would personally save up for a 360 because after playing most of the Xbox games that you wanted to play, you will be wanting the 360. That is what happened to me, after getting a original Xbox and playing games all of the games I been dying to play on it, there was nothing left to play. I had my used original Xbox for about a year when the 360 was out and over the year I got bored of my Xbox and wanting more library of games. That was when I decided to get a 360, which means I kind of waste money because I was never expecting myself of getting bored of my original Xbox.

I bought a used Xbox about a month ago from EB games....I'm a PS2 fan, but ran out of good games to play and can't be bothered toput out abunch of money for the new PS3 yet....I figured getting the Xbox and some of the "Xbox only" games would work....I've had no problems with the system at all...just keep the receipt, if there's a problem they'll exchange it.

It would be better to go with Xbox 360, However if you want to catch up on XBox 1 games you missed then picking up an Xbox could be OK. The system is dirt cheap and the games for it are cheap around $10 - 20 at Eb games. The downside is that games are no longer being made for the system. So I would try to buy Backwards compatible games so when you do upgrade to XBox 360 then you won't have invested all your money in a "Dead System" Not all of the great game as BC though. Xbox does have its share of great games.

If you had to choose just one then no wait and get a 360 but if you work or you have a way of getting both and the question is waiting. Then yes i'd buy an xbox and all the games on it you wanted then when you could upgrade to the 360. I have both and I like my xbox just as much as before I got my 360.
