I have had my Xbox since the summer of 2003 and it has served me well until a few months ago....... Now it will not reconize the game disk and it keeps thinking that it is a DVD disk for which is cannont reconize or the game won't start up. It is only playing DVDs now which is really annoying me. Does anyone know how to fix this problem or have the same problem?

Thanks a alot if you can help.

You can try on using a DVD lens cleaner or can of compressed air to clean the lens.

Get one of those disc driver cleaners.

I am so stupid, my Xbox was having errors like this for like a year but I never bothered to look into it.

Turns out all it needed was a good lense cleaning, I felt so stupid.

How much did it cost you? I think my Xbox may need that. I took it apart and cleaned the lens but it still wont read the discs.

I bought a new 16xDVD drive on Ebay for $50 after the original one started having read errors all the time.

Zero problems since. I think it actually loads a little faster now too. Hard to tell.
