so i was just wondering. The xbox has clearly lost popularity and attention now that the 360 is out and i was wondering if anyone could guess when it will completely die and be like the first Playstation (as in u dont hear about it anymore) my guess is in maybe 2 years

The question really is: can a machine die?  If we play the system, does it not work?  When we can't afford the next-gen model, is it not adequate?  If Xbox is dying, it is also partially living.

The console isnt dead because we are here. Besides, its more like a personal opinion because i just bought an xbox yesterday (i had the 360 but it burned after 2 weeks of using it) mainly because im definitely not paying 600 bucks to get entertainment a few hours a week And btw, im having a lot of fun with it and im also trying to get fable because it looks fun.

i have to agree. i love my xbox, but the money that can be made on the 360 as opposed to the original xbox is too much of a factor.

You cant say that the PS2 won against the Xbox. This was only Microsofts first console so if anything it should be compared to PS1. Besides, exactly the same will happen when PS3 is released on March 23rd.

Uh, yeah he can, the Xbox was in competition with the PS2 and clearly lost.

I wouldn't call the original xbox totally dead, but its pretty close. My general rule of thumb for a console to be completely dead is when they no longer release a new madden on the system.

Rofl at retard Sony fanboy trolls in an xbox thread. Resistance is not the best console FPS, its a just a good one.

Yeah, it died more or less when the 360 came out. Though I wish it didnt. I mean sure, Destroy All Humans 2 came out for it after the 360 was released, and so did some movie games...I would really love to play some older xbox live games on my original xbox. Sure, there are still a few people on all the time, but I would love to see it where there were just masses of people on at all times.

Honestly at this point the xbox is pretty much dead. You can still get some good games for it but as of this point I would have to say the party is over for it.

I'm going to take a well aimed shot in the dark and say that the people who posted that the Xbox is dead have a 360.

I enjoy being proven wrong.

its because microsoft isn being smart. You see some new games coming out on PS2, i havent seen a new xbox game in.....man i cant even remember (maybe thats just my odd memory :P) heres an example, consoles are like living things there food is games there water is there online service kK? Sony is feeding thyere ps2(s) plenty of games and adding stuff to there online service and its living a healthy life,as with xbox Microsoft isnt feeding it games or giving it water so its dying of thirst and starvation...... and u can only go 48 hours without water so i mourn over its rotting corpse, and as for casual gamers like me i cant aford a freakin 70 million dollar 360 so im hoping for more games on the xbox have i got any? no, same goes for nintendo (thoguh the gamecube has been a rotting corpse for about a year)o and i dont ahve a 360

Just because the new game list is on it's last legs it doesn't mean the xbox is dead. As long as the stores still stock allot of xbox games and ppl still talk about it the xbox is alive. But to answer your question, the xbox will be pretty much dead and buried by the end of the year. Who cares who won the war? I bought an xbox, most of my ps2 buddies bought an xbox and in the end we all agree that the xbox was the better choice. So if you want to look at money sony won but if you look at the consoles themselves I think most ppl that have played both will lean towards the xbox. But I have tried both the ps3 and xbox 360 (had a ps3) and right now I think the ps3 will be the better console after a $100 price cut.

There are so many good games for the X-Box that if you played and beat all of them it would take you years. Just buy the ten dollar games that were once fifty dollars and play them all and beat them all. Once you do that than you can call it officially dead. That will not happen anytime soon either. So no it is not officially dead.

I am tired of people saying the Xbox is dead.  That is what Microsoft wants people to think.  Even if it is abandoned, no longer produced and there are almost no new games that does not make it dead. Alot of people are still playing great Xbox games and many remaining consoles are still working fine.  Many Xbox360 consoles have been plagued with technical problems while old xboxes keep running.

If the xbox is dead why would you bother looking in an xbox forum? While the xbox may be slowly dying and losing popularity, as long as some people still care about the black box it will not die out completely for a while to come.  It is a great affordable option for people who want to play games for a couple of hours a day.  The best games on Xbox are just as much fun as most of the latest PS3 or Xbox360 games.

I know lots of people who own an Xbox. I know very few people who own a 360. Both types of owners are probably having fun playing their games.

I have two Xboxes. I recently bought FarCry : Instincts and Half-Life 2 for $5.00 each at CC. Half-Life has been fun. The past few days I took out Sega GT 2000 and replayed the whole game. Out of the 53 Xbox games I have, there are a few I haven't even played yet. I'll get to 'em someday, and in the meantime I know I'll have a great time replaying Halo CE and Fable. New Maps for Halo 2 on the 360? I've always thought Halo 2 was a bit boring anyway.

Xbox Dead? I'm having too much fun playing with my Xbox to bother much with a 360 at this time. maybe in the next year or so, a 360 will be bought. The Xbox is Alive and Well in my House.
