how do get the one month free on gold? do i need to buy a 12 month card to get it or what? or should i just use the one month free and then get the 12 month sub?

I spent an hour trying to find out how the get the one month free gold membership and finally gave up. I signed up for one month online for $7.99 and just ordered a 12 month membership card at Amazon (free shipping, no tax!) for $43! I think the one month free membership only works right after you buy your system.

ok i just read on xbox.com that if you just select a silver membership when you are signing up for live it will automatically give you one month free.

does this mean you can't use the one month free later (i.e. several months after you buy your xbox)?

i had the same problem and i finally found how to do it and you can do it another away you can go on xbox .com and from there there is a redeemed code ready for activating buh mine was expired stupid me :P
