K, so after sixteen months with no problems, less than an hour ago I turn off my 360, and I turn it back on..and it tells me that there's an error, number 74 to be exact.

I check online, and it tells me that it's the AV cables..but it's not, because everything's fine back there, I even switched them with another pair, and it doesnt work. So I call customer suppport, and the guy tells me that I need to send it in with 99 bux, since my warrenty expired.

yeah, screw that.

So I've heard about the towel trick, At this point, I am pretty desperate. Should I try it? I've only seen it being refered to when there is three blinking lights, not one. If not, any other suggestions?

Yup, one section is av cables. Just unplug them all, blow into the ports to clear any dust, and try it again.

I thought ALL 4 lights meant A/V cables.

i have another set of av cables, and i tried it, but alas, nothing.

i went ahead and did the towel trick...it worked for a day. then it gave me the same message. then i did the towel trick again, and it's working..but when I turn it off, it will most likely give me the message again, I just know it for some reason. I think its something to do with the GPU, because there were some graphical problems when I loaded the Godfather: The Game, and Lumines Live. Every other game worked fine, though.

so I guess I'm fine doing the towel trick a bunch of times for the next month. me and my brother will have enough money to get a new one by then.

no the towel trick is just a quick fix. I have heard the saudering is shotty at best and what the towel trick does it overheats the system and makes the sauder get a better connection only for a short while. Then after that RRoD.......................

just let your xbox run with the exhuast vents covered up and get the rrod... then you stil have warranty.

btw: i got a 1 red section when I got my replacement a few months back... 360 still works, sorta

Just lie to the support... tell them it was the AV and a RROD... then they will fix it for free... or argue a bit... normally they don't like arguing and just say "Ok fine I put in your repair order, your box is on its way"...
