this is stated in the official halo 3 thread:

"Without such a thread the whole 360 forum would only be about Halo 3"

but my question is, at a historical time like this (halo topping sales charts world wide etc)

shouldnt the whole 360 forum be about halo 3 anyways? it seems logical to me

i dont know about you but i dont want to post a question in that crappy thread then sift through 30 pages of bullcrap to find my 1 lousy answer(if anyone even bothers to answer it)

no, it's ridiculous to try and keep all halo conversation to one thread and expect people to go through 50 pages of posts to look for an answer.

*edit*

however i will say that there is a halo 3 forum on it's own and most questions for help and what not should stick there. but general posts about the game should be fine in regular forums.

Every game has it's own forum at gamespot. So that's where you should really go to talk about Halo 3. The sticky is worthless. No one is going to check that thread to see if there is a question they can answer that you posted. Everyone goes into a sticky to make their own post, thus, rarely does anything get anwered there, and often lost before you know it.

Just go to Halo3's gamespace here, then click on the forum button there, and voila, an entire area devoted to Halo, not one sticky.

Side notes, you can't edit posts in those areas, and when you check you posts to see if there are new replies, it will always say zero new replies, even though there are.

the historical part about it isnt anything to do with "finishing the fight" it's sales is the historic part, over 100million dollars on the first day (forget exact amount) and over 300 million dollars in the first week, both of those are records in the gaming industry

there also is the fact that it is the number 1 selling game in japan, a country that absolutely HATES the xbox 360

this wasnt meant to sound like flame if it does, just stating the historical parts you questions, and if it doesnt sound like flame then ignore this sentence =p

I think it sucks, the thing I like about individual topics is that everything is easily organized and I'll actually answer peoples questions if I can but there's no way I'm going through tons of posts about how great the game is to see if someone asked a question. Also if someone doesn't want to go into a Halo3 topic then they don't have to, and locking them just makes the board look ugly, and the topics still are there anyways

that brings up another question then, why do they let you ask questions about ANY games... those pesky games fill this forum with crap... why not just leave this forum for only rrod topics

Because even those aren't allowed, there's a sticky for broken 360's so now they lock topics having to do with those :P

No, but at the same time, if it weren't, it would be hard to find threads about anything else.

The threads are still there, they're just locked so it doesn't make anything easier...and if people want to talk about Halo3 then who cares, it happens with every game and I sure didn't see all the Bioshock threads getting locked when that game was released

That's his point, every other game has it's own board as well so why not ban discussion of every game?

Considering that there is a Halo forum and a sticky in the 360 forum dedicated to Halo, I think the mods are absolutely correct in locking Halo topics.

This forum is used for general discussion about the system. If the mods let it all go, then this forum would turn into the Halo forum, thus negating the official Halo forum and the purpose of this forum.

Though Halo is obviously 360 related, Halo topics would clog up this forum so much that people who wanted to talk about anything other then Halo would be screwed because most would only talk about Halo.

Instead of complaining that you must keep it all in a sticky or the Halo forum, why not ask yourself why you cannot post in the Halo forum? You would get many more responses and your questions answered much faster then here, so it would not only benefit you, but all of us who don't want to talk about Halo.

Once the Halo craze dies down then I'm sure the mods will allow Halo talk, much like BioShock. Every BioShock thread was locked, but now that the craze has died down, BioShock topics are (seem to be) allowed.

I believe the mods are absolutely just in what they are doing, and for my reasons why, see my post above.

k i just did an experiment, in the halo forum i asked a question, it took 40 minutes to get an answer that wasnt flame and answered my question, i HIGHLY doubt it would take that long in the 360 forum

if broken 360 threads are supposed to not be here, and game threads are not supposed to be here, then why the heck do they even HAVE a freaking forum? seriously, i cant see anything that isnt about bungie leaving microsoft if you take out the games, so if the mods locked everything that is supposed to be locked, then we would have 50 threads total talking about how bungie left microsoft or about how they aren't smart enough to read xbox 360 instructions on how to hook it up to the internet

Ok, then what are you looking for us to say? Generally asking Halo related questions in a Halo forum will get you a quick response. I'm sorry you just had trouble, but hey, it happens.

Regardless of all of this, currently talking about Halo outside of the sticky in the Xbox 360 forum is not allowed. I don't make the rules, I'm just stating my opinion on your question.

it is not just a "halo craze" the way i see it, it is a milestone for the xbox 360 and we cant talk about it because it is related to halo 3

That's why we have a Halo 3 forum, you know, a Halo 3 thread and a forum just for itself.

Do you know the difference between a forum and a thread? There is no halo 3 forum, just a long ass 50 page thread. I believe he wants an entire forum within the 360 forum dedicated to halo 3, that way each thread gets equal attention, instead of being ignored as just another post in the halo 3 thread.

Halo 3 should be only in one forum, and that would be the Halo 3 forum which is here(http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/halo3/forum.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=tabs&tag=tabs;forums)! I give the actual Halo 3 forum address just in case no one knows where it is.

I am really getting tired of seeing all of these posts for Halo 3 on the this Xbox360 forum. If I wanted to read(which I don't) posts about Halo 3 then I would go to the Halo 3 forum which is here(http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/halo3/forum.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=tabs&tag=tabs;forums)! I give the actual Halo 3 forum address again just in case anyone had forgot where it was.

There is a section of the forums specificaly dedicated to halo, use that.
