1080i and 1080p with my tv? why wont p work?

So i got a 1080p 42 inch hd TV and it says 1080p right on the box but when i try to set up my xbox on 1080p it doesnt work it only lets me use 1080i why is this and how do i fix it! is there a new hdmi cord or something i can get? please help! thanks:)

dude dont be too worried, as I've repeated in many many posts before setting your xbox to 1080 doesnt make any real difference even on larger tv's because 360 games are only built in 720p anyway, seriously dude dont worry your not missing anything cause theres nothing extra in 1080 its only there incase you have problems runing 720 on a big tv like that i think

2nd: is your xbox on live? if not then youve not received the update to allow that upscale, erm beyond that check you are using a component cable or HDMI other than that i dont know

Thats odd I never seen that before, but to answer your question you need HDMI, or HD-VGA cables, I have a Sony SXRD 1080p(2007) in my living room and it doesnt give a 1080p signal through component cables.

you can get 1080p through a component cable, do your research people I'd love to know where the misconception that they cant is coming from, some tv's are a bit spazzy with it admitidly but thats more likely the result of the tv maufactuer's not giving proper support in my opinion, HD tv is still a new thing in the mainstreampenpusher
