1080p difference?

Is there a noticable difference between the elite's 1080p HDMI and the normal 720p?

I was orginally going to buy an elite but I have heard that you can upgrade a premiums hard drive to 60gb or 120gb, is this true?

Buying an Elite does not grant you 1080p. Elite's are not the console that have HDMI. I have a 360 Pro (60gb) with HDMI. They work the same. To get full HDMI and full 1080p, you must get a 1080p monitor or tv (I prefer monitor).

There really is not much of a difference. It depends on the TV and on your own opinion.

There's big time difference between 720p and 1080p mainly because you get more lines across allowing more detail. Also, as long as you don't sit like 2 feet away from like a 50" TV, the detail and quality of picture will be amazing. Now, you can play 1080p on the pro and elite consoles just the elite comes with HDMI cable but you can buy one for like $5. And for your second question, simply yes.

Can I hook up my Monitor through HDMI. My Monitor only goes up to 1280 x 1240. I have VGA right right now but my monitor also has DVI. Will I see much of a difference?

The answer to your question is this. You will not notice a huge difference between 720p and 1080p unless you are using a HDTV of 46" or higher. Anything under that, the two resolutions are basically identical. Secondly, there are very few games on either the 360 or PS3 that run in native 1080p. In fact, some of the best looking games so far this generation run below 720p...aka CoD 4, Halo 3 and Fable 2. So just because you have a HDTv capable of 1080p resolutions, doesn't automatically grant you 1080p visuals. A games native resolution is what it is!! So dont beleiev the 1080p fanboys out there. Other than BluRay, 1080p is a myth as far as gaming is concerned!

Other than BluRay, 1080p is a myth as far as gaming is concerned!

Bluray movies with subtitles are easy to read though. So is this moreso the TV isn't liking the upscaling that well?

It's only noticeable on big TVs... I have a 50' LCD and don't really know the difference. Besides most games are made in 720p so just play in that and play racers and the likes in 1080i (less motion blur)

PS - I don't use 1080p anymore.

I have it set to Auto. I just changed it to 1080p, and it has fixed it up. Thanks. Maybe the Auto doesn't work too well. Also found some weird settings for Standard, and Enhanced. But by changing it too Enhanced it makes everything very dark. And yet someone told me to only have it on enhanced for HDTV's.
Way too many settings, just wish things were plug and play.

Yeah, went back into Fallout3 and it's disturbingly ugly (the text that is). GTA4 is impossible to read the mobile phone. Must be a setting on the TV. I should've gone Samsung instead of Sony. So many people praise the Samsungs. Guess it's time to contact Sony and find out how much it costs to get someone out to calibrate. I have looked at the manual and there are so many settings to change things as as Colour Spacing, Colour Temp etc. I have no idea what any of that means. Warm, Cool, Neutral, User. What tha?
I'm just running the screen settings out of the box.
I know the 360 can produce good quality images and text since I've seen it on displays, I just need to get mine the same.

Must be a setting on the TV. I should've gone Samsung instead of Sony.

Wow, thanks for that link. This will be good to use when deciding which system to get a multiplat on.

Edt: I use a pc monitor as well, so having AA is a must. Halo 3 really hurt my eyes with all those jaggies and a less than 720p resolution.
