This is what happens.
You can recover everything on the 120 through account recovery but there is a transfer cable the I believe plugs in through USB somehow and transfers everything for you.
I am not 100% positive baout how it works though I just know about it because my buddy but an elite when it was released and got this transfer thing for free at the store he bought it at.
Just call 18004myxbox im sure they will be able to answer your question
yeah, the standalone 120GB HDD comes with transfer cable and software as standard. but it was the issue was, that i was told everything but Game Saves were transferred.Spookhouse1
i'm thinking myself of upgrading to a 120GD HDD, so i would like to know about the 20GB to 120GB transfer data.
It transfers everything, even game saves. I just did it and it takes about 1 hr (depending on how much is transfering). You also need the transfer disk with the cable (which goes in first then follow instuctions on the screen). The 20 gb HD should be on your system (or the one with stored info). Then connect the usb to the port on the back of the console. And finally connect the new HD and select start transfer. Now wait.
I bought the Elite and it doesnt come with a cable, butmicrosoft will send you one for free. Game Crazyactually let me borrow one over night though.
everything transfers, including game saves. but the more games or things you have the longer it will take. and if you have arcade games then you need to be online to play them or else they are just free trails if you are offline.elvisisgodi heard if you delete your XBLA games and re-download them onto the new hard drive they will work both online and offline
