Can anybody out there honestly say that they need a 120GB hard drive?

I have over a dozen Arcade games, a few videos and demos, and my 20GB drive is probably a little over half full.

Seems a little excessive to me.

I have six games and 13 gigs left, so I don't need one yet, but eventually I will.

I really don't need it but I assume people who like buying movies and shows will definitely need it.

those who actively use the video marketplace would find it very helpful.

not to mention that there are rumors that the Xbox 360 can eventually be used as a cable box for the IPTV service... in which a large HDD can be used to save recorded shows.

My 360 is the center piece in my entertainment center. meaning it is hooked up to 5.1 surround sound and used for movies, games, and music. My 20 gb drive is completely filled with mainly music at the moment and dont want to delete any cds off of it to make room for other stuff. Therefore I'm just wanting to get the 120gb drive so i can down load some HD movies and anything else I dont have rom for. So yea, if you only use the harddive for games and demos then 120 is crazy, but if you want music and movies on there then it fills up pretty fast.

Yeah I need one, badly.  I've actually gotten my HDD down into the MegaBit range.  Also, when IPTV drops, it'll be a must to have that large of a HDD.

Huh. Do people really use the Video Marketplace that often? I just don't see the point in having to pay for shows I can catch on TV for free, or movies that I can rent, or buy if I want that badly.

But that's just me.

I have around 30 Live Arcade games & love to DL demos & extra content, (Shivering ISles was pretty big), without having to delete them later for the space, so yeah, glad I got the Elite with the bigger HDD.

I don't need it, and until a week ago I didn't even want it. Then I went to download my first HD movie from the video marketplace (Superman Returns) and realised that I had to clear 6GB of the usable 13GB to be able to do so. I did it, but let me tell you that clearing half your HDD every time you want to see a movie is no picnic.

i'm at 4.7 gigs but i have a couple demos that will probably come off soon putting me at a little over 5 so maybe someday but probably not anytime soon. but seriously, i'll probably never need 120 gigs i probably would've been fine with like 40.

I have tons of music on my 360 - probably the most fun I have with the system (outside of E.D.F. and a few other games) is finding weird stuff to put on it. I keep ~1 gig free in case a new game demo comes out that I want to play, but I'd still like to not have to worry about space when throwing a few music CDs on the HD on a whim. I'm interested in the larger hard drive, but I'm concerned about a few specifics that haven't been cleared up yet as well as whether or not some of the same problems carry over. 1.The data transfer cable: does it transfer everything over? I've probably spent more hours entering information for individual tracks (even with a USB keyboard at hand) and organizing playlists than playing any particular game on the system. If it doesn't transfer music, forget it. 2. Dashboard lag. I'm sure anyone who's put enough music on their 360 has realized this issue - the more you put on there, the longer it takes to do. With ~11 out of 13 gigs taken up with music, the lag for starting a CD rip or altering track information is already painfully slow - assuming this is more an issue with memory rather than free disk space, imagine how much it would slow down dealing with 60 gigs of music. The only thing I know is that the lag has something to do with it organizing the files, so even though I'm not sure about the details, I'm not particularly optimistic about this. :P

I got more than half of the 20 gigabyte harddrive left, and only six different game saves. The 120 gigabyte harddrive are for people who are planning to download movies and television shows via IPTV.

My Elite is the only thing plugged into my tv in my living room.  I've only rented Virgin Suicides and download all the Jay Leno and Conan O'Brian clips.  I just like having the feeling that I don't need to worry about using up hard drive space.  I read some post about how people had to delete some things off their 20gb just to download the Halo 3 Beta.  So yeah.

There is no need for such a hard drive

the xbox is so low on being able to store videos, becuase you can store music by plugging a flash drive, or mp3,

you can only stream it, what is good about that.

no video able to store at all

no photos either

THAT IS Stupid, when are they going to let you put music, videos and photos on your hard drive.

The bigger HD is for people who download a lot of demos and movies.  I rented the 720p version of Flags of Our Fathers and it was a 6.8 gig download.  With the ability to buy shows and save them you need that space especially if you are using an HDTV.

yeah.. i can definetly see needing 120 GBS.  I always try the latest demos when they come out and I always have to delete old demos off my hard drive to make room for them.  And I don't even have any movies or anything.  Kinda sucks because some of those demos i wouldn't mind keeping, even if they are just to show off when people come over.  I could only imagine how much  worse it woudl be if i actually had the money to download stuff that wasn't free like movies and such.

I already need well more than the 20 gig offered, or should I say the 13 gigs that it offered.   I think this is a very stupid question for anyone that has an HDTV and uses the Video Marketplace at all.  Episodes of shows like CSI any hour long broadcast show that is available in HD, and they are over a gig for one single show.  A couple episodes of South Park in HD and your close to a gig, demo's are now up well over a gig for many of them.  If you want to keep any amount of content on your console and use it as a media hub, you need space.

I have about 17 arcade games, 25 TV shows of varrying length and resolution, and several hundred songs on my HDD, a bunch of trailers, and game videos, about 11 demos, in addition to quite a bit of DLC for games, some map packs, expansions and the like, several themes and picture packs, and I like to keep some space for some HD movie rentals.  I'm using well over 50 gigs already.

The thing is, people don't get it, it's not even a matter of "can I fill the HDD today" anybody that does store a reasonable amount of data on thier 360, they sure as hell don't want to go through the PITA of running out of space and having to upgrade a year or two from now and having to lose or transfer tons of downloaded content.  IPTV is around the corner, and the possiblity of the option of devs taking more of the HDD space to improve future games for those  that have the big HDDs, it all looms as a nice convienence to have it now rather than wait until you absolutely have to have it.
