19.1gb with only three game installs. That's alot...In great detail inside.

Ok, so one of my most anticipated features of the update was the game install. I just recently downloaded the NXE so I decided to install a few games.

Here's the result of three game installs:

Call of Duty: World At War - 6.5gb

Fallout 3 - 5.9gb

Gears of War 2 -  6.7

Total - 19.1gb!

Now, out of my 120gb hardrive I have exactly 28.1gb's left. I guess I won't be installing all my games afterall.

On a sidenote the installation is really fast, it took me about six mintues to install Gears of War 2. It took almost twenty to install Socom on my Playstation 3, and that was less then half the size.

Oh well....

The only games I've installed are Gears 2 and Banjo. Banjo takes up 6.6 gig and Gears 2 takes up 6.7 gig.

Thats about all I plan on installing for now. I would install Halo 3, but supposedly the load times are longer for that game if you install it.

its a optional ,you are not forced to install that for ur xbox360.

but my ps3 needs a bigger hd since they dont give any option.

dude, the installing thing is mainly for big games, like Oblivion, fallout 3, mass effect. the RPG type, with big worlds. IMO at least.Plo_Koon_basic

Yeah it sounds good,but ripping a music cd in xbox takes about the same time :S

Mind you, as soon as I heard about the NXE update including the installation of games, I didn't care much (mainly because my computer is in the same room as my Xbox 360 and my PC is generally on and drowns out the Xbox 360 with its constant whirring). Also, I only have a 20GB hard drive, so I wouldn'tbe able to install many anyway.

You own a playstation...it's the exact same process. Did you expect them to be small?

I think it's really unnecessary, installs are not a good thing...the only reason PS3 has to do them is because the Blu-Ray reader is horribly slow, I believe it's 1x.

i was like that too, but i done a little searching on YouTube.... and now i have it, its really easy to get, but its not really the full thing and people that have it wont be able to play on live till the official release date (so that means me, i can wait a day though lol)

Thats not entirely true. I think most people, myself included, got in legitimately through the early access program. We, unlike yourself, can get online and enjoy everything the new NXE has to offer.

Looks like I might have to invest in a new hard drive (I have 20GB). They're just so expensive!

Why? The installation doesnt improve anything or make your game run faster or smoother, it simply stops the disc srive from spinning, so your xbox will be quieter. I have 95gb free atm on my HDD, so no worries here...

Actually, it does reduce load times.

Can someone tell me the game install size for Left 4 Dead? its not on the website that tells them all yet. Anybody know?

ill be installing gta4 and thats probably it.. my disk has been skipping, and though there is a hairline scratch in it (negligible) i think this may be the cause. im hoping the install will help it.

i'm going 2 try that w/ my Mass Effect disk. I got a big scratch in the side from the 360 and it does not allow it 2 spin. I'm going 2 try and borrow a friends disk, install it and use my disk 2 play the game. I hope it works, that was a good game.

i have 20gig hard drive so i'l only install one game at a time. i wasn't realy into installing games. iam2green
