The PS3 may not be dead, but with the way things are going for Sony (including laying off a whole bunch of their American workers because of the slow success of the PS3), the price of $199 for a 360 certainly won't help it. Further, with the Xbox 360 being so much easier to develop for (DirectX versus the Cell), game makers will likely flock to the 360.

ummmmm, i care; i am going off to college, so i have to leave my xbox 360 here with my little brother, so if i can get one for $100 off, that would be awesome

I had bought a 360 a year ago (noob pack), and then last summer bought a 20gb HD. I personally am glad to see the prices coming down to a more realistic range, so more people will buy, and more games will come out. Devs seem to really push games for the systems with huge customer bases, and I would hate to see the inferior Wii get all the titles due to its innovative motion controls.

I am not personally knocking the Wii, and I believe that soon you will see similar types of motion controls being made available for the 360/PS3 systems, as I am sure they are wanting to cash in on that cow. $199 for a 360, even if it is a noob system, is a heck of a deal for the technology you are getting, and I think this will really make Sony sweat. Heck, you might even see Nintendo starting to breathe hard as well (cue in the 70's porno soundtrack). :oops:

No kidding. If you go to this link: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/795/795525p1.html you will see that the possibillity of a price reduction is close to nil. It would be sweet if it happens sometime soon but highly unlikely.

Dreamcast was easier to develop games for than the PS2...hmm.

They make that money back selling games like Crackdown and Shadowrun (especially games like Shadowrun). They make a killing.

Well the 360 is still $700 here and the elite $850......
