This subject is getting a little old, but still this is important for thousands gamers. It's unfair, to say the least, having paid for a product and not receiving the full services you have paid for. I'm very disappointed about it, and I express my strongest dissapproval for Microsoft's policy on this matter.

Full services? If there's no XBL in Greece, and you just paid to get the console, then that's done and over with, and that's the full service. I can understand buying live, then realizing that you can't use it, but if you know that you can't play online, why would you? However, there has to be some reason, whether legit or stupid, that Microsoft has for not giving Greece XBL.

1. Because you're still paying for the console. Is Xbox Live's price added in with the 360? No, it's separate.
2. Fully agree with the games part.

You can still play on live even though your country is not supported by Microsoft. Here in our country, the xboxlive gaming community is still strong despite having no support from Microsoft. Trust me, you can get on live without official support for microsoft.

Legendaryscmt

I didn't know it. None told me, because I never asked anyone, because I took it for granted, since I had an internet connection. And it's not mentioned anywhere in the console's package either. If not asking was naive by me, not informing, and not warning was unfair by the company.

If they were drastically cheaper in greece then everyone would import games from Greece. You knew the price of games and the lack of xbox live support when you bought the console so you have no right to compain now.

So, if you checked out the main site, and searched for Live access in your area, and it says that you're not supported, then they just did tell you.

Is it MS not allowing Live in Greece, or Greece not allowing Live in Greece. Might initially sound like a stupid comment, but I remember reading a few articles over the last few years about Greek authorities making some pretty stupid anti-gaming laws/rulings so I wouldn't be all that surprised if it wasn't linked in with that. If you set the country of your gamertag to a country that does support Live, would it work then? You can always try it with a hotmail account.

If that's the case, then they are typically in order, and I should have been more carefull. But still I can't help but feeling mistreated by them. Sorry. As for the UK/US accounts solution, I prefer to be absoloutely in accordance to whatever I sign for. Maybe it's stupid, but that's the way I see it.

I don't know about it, but it's an iteresting aspect you put. My guess though, was that MS is sceptical about investing in Greek market in general, because of the widely spread piracy problem in the country.

Blame your government, M$ wants to make money, we all know this, there is zero reason why they'd not have live access in any Country (they make a killing off of DLC), unless the government has blocked them from allowing it for whatever reason.

It's come up many times before, people in the UK, for instance, blamed Idle Hands for not releasing PAIN in the UK for a long time, as it turned out however, the ratings board refused to give it a rating, thereby disallowing it to appear in their Country, for a very long time. This happens more often than you'd think, another example, on XBL Canada we do not have access to TV shows, this is because the government blocks them from being allowed in the Country, due to "THE MIGHTY GOVERNMENT CBC OWNING ALL OF EVERYTHING", same goes for BBC in the UK, it makes it so we do not have access to a large sum of content, and it's actually the gov'ts fault, not the developer. Shocking, I know.

1.Since we greek players pay full price for games that come with the multiplayer feature included as a de facto we should have full, legid access to Live in order to use said features. If they do not offer it then they should also give us lower prices for the games, at least those with mp.Same goes for all other unsupported countries.

2.The law mentioned above was actually a misinterpretation of a law banning illegal lottery machines and slot machines. It was a stupid mistake that v.games were dragged into this mess but the problem was corrected in a matter of days. That was about 5 years ago.

3.I don't mean to insult any of our Turkish co-players but the difference is that Greece is a member of the EU which makes a huge difference in terms of product distribution. The reasons are pretty obvious. And no more brain-dead and impolite comments like "you are lucky to even have consoles".Why should YOU have anything more than what the greek player gets?

4.The biggest fault is M$'s of course but we are partly to blame as well.We should NOT be paying them for Live since they have turned their backs on us in the first place.

5.Some technicians insist that the problem comes with the complexity of the language. It is difficult for translation via software and that's why it would take a lot of work to make server firmware with our language as a base. That's just an opinion/theory though.

Glad there is so little flame in this thread :) .Keep up the civilized conversation ppl.

It is not a matter of lieing my friend. It's a matter of respect for the consumer. On top of that there is not way for M$ to know where the account was created. For example I created mine when I was in England, I just recovered it when I came back. Not to mention that we PAY for it!

So it's not like greek players can't get Live. It's that treating us like second grade citizens is just unfair and wrong.Simple as that.

theres never been respect for the consumer if it doesnt make them more money or protect them from losing more money, the companies dont do it its as simple as that but to be fair, theres no respect for the companies either

Of course all the companies want is money but in order to have clients who will give their cash to them they need to show consumers respect, not because the corps actually care but because an unsatisfied consumer will simply go elsewhere.

As for respecting the companies...they get our cash. That's all the respect they need.

Hey dude really...Im Greek and I always had xbox live (since Dec 2005). If you go to your hotmail account and change the country to UK (find a valid UK postal code i.e. UB8 3FG) then you will have no problem. The only problem now is that since jan-2009 Greek credit cards are not accepted from the service. So you can just buy microsoft cards with redeem codes. The best site is amazon.co.uk with minimum shipping costs...(no way more than 5 euros). And another negative, is that you cannot download some add-ons or videos that they are tooooo rare to be found. (because of country restrictions but that goes for all countries xbox live supports). The only major game i cannot download map packs is cod:world at war....too bad...but its ok...life goes on...But im telling you...You can play live and download games and add-ons from Greece just fine. end of story...

if you want to buy stuff from XBL like DLC,it's almost impossible to lie i think... unless you have credit card from another country.

because they also check the country of your credit card

i live in france (XBL supported by MS here fortunately) but french voice actors in games often suck so i buy them in UK... but on XBL i dont have access to most english DLC/Movies.

that means i dont buy/rent movies on XBL because no matter what, they will play in french and i dont want that.

and if i buy a DLC, i might end up playing a game with some voices/text in english, and the DLC part in french if the game/DLC is not published in multi-language

my dashboard is also half english (offline/static part) and half french (online marketplace and some game descriptions).

really annoying... i hope some day video games online services will be totally free to use in any langage and for anyone

Sorry to her this but just paying for the system does not entitle you to XBL thats an extra fee. So you have not lost any money.
