Now Toshiba have officially ditched HD-DVD does anyone think MS will release a Blu-ray add on for 360?

Most likely, but it's not going to improve their sales only help them recover in their loss with going with HD-DVD.

I believe they own a large part of it but Sony has said in the past they would be glad to have MS on board. Sony would be crazy to not allow MS to make a BR add-on.

I bet anything the rumors will fly about a Xbox 360 with built in Blu Ray player.

That would be very ballsy on Sonys part. Righ now I think the BluRay player is the only thing holding my PS3's head above water.

They created/own the rights to the technology, just like somebody did with DVD. All it means really, is that companies like Toshiba will make blu-ray players and Sony will get a kick back, instead of Sony making HDDVD players and Toshiba getting some of the cash. I think Microsoft may make a blu-ray drive, however, I really think they are on to something with Live and DLC. I think you will see, down the road, either a larger HDD, or even a large portable drive. Everything is moving in that direction...I think XBox Originals are only the beginning.

This was said at the CES last month. "It should be consumer choice; and if that's the way they vote, that's something we'll have to consider," Albert Penello, group marketing manager for Xbox hardware said when asked whether Microsoft would support a Blu-ray DVD accessory in the event that HD-DVD failed. Microsoft's Xbox could consider Blu-ray support Now that Toshiba has officially bowed out of the format war, I expect to hear more news about this. Regardless though, I would consider getting a PS3 before dropping the money on a Blu Ray add on.
