Is it true the 360 breaks easily?
What is this about a red light of death?
Does this still happen?

yes they do seem to break easy even though mine never has. There sposed to overheat easily which causes the red light of doom and then your 360 is broken. rassclart
The xbox 360 doesn't overheat because of Microsoft. The 360 overheats because people put them in areas of excessive heat. It won't harm your 360 and your 360 will shutdown itself if it becomes to hot. What the hell is up with that?

Are they going to fix it?

i read a lot about 360's breaking and in i know about 10-20 people that have them and not one has broken down. if you want a reliable console SNES all the way never needed a fan for that baby :DSuP3R_TooTSo true, I still have mine from the early 90's :)
That was just the launch consoles.
I believe the new ones have an improved fan. Had my 360 for 7 months now, no problems at all. Was playing Guitar Hero 2 for 32 hours straight and no problems occured. (No I didn't play for 32 hours straight.)
Dude, I was gonna say lol My fingers can't take more than 8 hours of the game... I think the longest I played was 4-6 hours. And to the original TC, no, they do not break easy. Unelss you throw them on the floor on purpose or put them in an enclosed space till they fry themselves. If you take good care of it, you should not have any problems. Now, the 3 Rings of Death, that's Internal Hardware faliure. It's not a common thing, but as you know, it's not unheard of. I am sure MS is trying to fix it, the problem is they say each ring of death case is unique. So, I don't know if they even know what causes it. It happens to a few people, but the majority of teh X360, including a great deal of launch, are still out there working like new. Just treat it right :PThat was just the launch consoles.

if your that paranoid, theres intercoolers you can get that will keep the system even cooler. The xbox's are known to run hot at times, but even if you get the 3/4 ring flashing light, there are methods out there that you can try if your warranty is up. Just researching Xbox Repairs on google, or try youtube, and theres videos on how to do it.
At first i thought the idea of heatgunning your system to get the solder back in wa insane, but i talked to the guys in my electrical dept, and they said that it would work, as long as you dont over heat any of the other components, but it would work. They just told me not to try it, and to bring it to them if it should happen, and they would do it for me.
YAY!
New pieces of hardware always seem to have problems. I don't know the actually frequency of the breakdowns but I hear about the rings of death way more frequently than I would like to. Just make sure you keep your console well ventilated.gatsbythepigIll keep that in mind Anymore tips like this?
